which of these two amplifiers:

Aphex Headpod 4

Samson qh4

is best suited to simultaneously drive these two planar magnetic headphones:

-Modhouse argon mk3
-Hifiman he400i

Samson seems capable.
The Aphex has insufficient data in their specsheet to make an educated guess.

The T50RP needs quite a bit of voltage, the HE400i not so much.

aphex costs 250 euros. The qh4 costs 100 euros.

unfortunately the aphex technical sheet is insufficient but I have mentioned a detailed review.

I like buying aphex but I'm afraid of making mistakes.

The Alpex will provide about 8.5V into 50 Ohm = 1.4W and is more than sufficient and seems more capable than the Samson.

I have not read anywhere that the aphex supplies 9 V at 50 Ohm = 1.6 W.
Have you calculated this value by reading the review?
I am very happy to know that the aphex is so powerful.
Then i buy the Aphex Headpod 4!

yes calculated based on the measurements.
The max output voltage is known as is the max current.
Based on this knowledge the max output voltage for 50 Ohm is known and one can calculate the power.
In reality it may be somewhat lower but not significantly lower.

One can only tell this when it is measured.
The provided data does not give enough clues.

It is safe to say that it won't be as good as say using 2 JDS Atom amps.
This would cost about the same, the inputs can be daisy chained.

the aphex Headpod has 4 independent amplifiers. If each amplifier were as good as the jds atom the aphex should cost 400 euros instead of 250 euros.
I buy the aphex and I live happily

8.5V into 50ohm is 170mArms and 240mA peak. Are you sure it can deliver that current?

Probably a different Symbol for Ohm. I think I saw it some where before.

SI is surely 'Omega' or Ohm. But I remember seeing W in a different place representing impedance before. Though I'm not sure the reason behind that. And the fact all of them are in W, so I doubt it was a accidental mistake.

If for example you are composing using Microsoft Word and use the symbol font to get the Ω. And then you copy and paste your text to a different program but the font information got lost, that's the end result.

Ok. That makes sense, because i have definitely seen this W in impedance before. Probably the same mistake.
