Hi guys,

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to the Minidsp Flex HT to get 8 channels from my TV's HDMI.

Sure it's a great device, but I have a PC license for Dirac and shelling out 800€ for a Flex is out of discussion.

I found this MOTU HD Express, that can be had for ~200 used. It is not clear if I'll be able to get 8 separate PCM channels from my eARC though.

Any idea or first hand experience?

From what I can tell, the HD Express is no HDMI ARC device.

You can send multichannel audio via HDMI to it from your PC, BD Player, or console, but not from your TV.

HDMI eARC to HDMI (only audio) interfaces are available for few bucks though.
