I'm trying to calibrate my bedroom system. Currently the nearest computer is in a room across the hall. It takes a lot of cables and I can't hear the test tones very well. I don't have a laptop. What's the minimum hardware requirement for running REW? Windows or Linux is fine with me. I have an audio interface and calibration mic. I'm hoping to use one of the tiny computers with low end Intel or AMD processors. As long as it has a free USB input and an HDMI port I'll be happy. I just want strong enough hardware to run the software.

Thanks

For my lounge setup, I ran REW on my PC in the study and measured with a UMIK-1 USB measurement mic in the lounge connected via a 10m active (i.e. powered) extension cable like this...

I bought it from Amazon, but they don't seem to sell them anymore. It was described as 'USB Extension Lead, UGREEN 10m USB Extension Cable with 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub and Signal Amplifier, USB Male to Female Active Repeater Cord for Printers'. Not being in the room with the test tones is a bonus in my book!

*edit* and the DAC feeding the lounge system was also connected to the USB extension, which is why I bought the hub version, rather than just the cable.

I run REW on a very old (12+ years) Lenovo Notebook (4GB memory) with a current Ubuntu OS, either with a Umik 1 or a very old USB 1 sound interface (Edirol UA25). I didn't do any processing yet, just recording sweeps or running the SPL recorder for a week in a row.

There are other active USB extension cables on Amazon: here, here.

Thanks to everyone. It looks like it will run on most hardware available. Actually in my "long distance" setup the USB cable was the shortest. I had the audio interface in the room with the computer. I used a couple of XLR cables and a long chain of RCA cables from my box o' RCA cables.

The UGREEN is particularly good because I could run both UMIK-1 and DAC off the same cable (with the power provided to the hub within my living room). Obviously you could do something similar with those cables and a separate powered hub.
