So same amp with a bit lower gain to get this 1-2dB SINAD increase?

However,as it seems case was designed with better thermals in mind?
At 22 x 19 x 9 cm is still small but somehow looks more .

I have had my la90 for over 18 months without any problems, world class sounding amp and outperforms my other two tube amps. When using it ,never gets hot, just warm to the touch, even after a full days listening!

The (previous) tube amps hint should suggest high sensitivity speakers,so makes sense.
Other use cases may differ (a lot) .

I'm slightly puzzled why they use horizontal cooling fins, rather than vertical? That hurts air convection.

A comparison of the B200 and LA90 Mono specs is striking more by the similarities than the differences.
And of course they look rather similar. I suspect the reason the B200 has three inputs is because the LA90 has three inputs, and maybe they even use the same power supply?
The B200 THD+N performs more like the LA90 mono, but looking at the noise and gain specs, it's like they traded a bit of gain for SNR.

I just read the B200 user manual, which stated the power input to be "DC 64V 3.75A (3 pin aviation connector)" - exactly the same as the LA90.
I'm not a Topping knocker, but it's starting to look like a LA90 mono with no volume control, a bit less gain, and a lower price (and what's not to like?)
My guess is that Topping sold a lot of the LA90 in pairs, and realised their customers just wanted more power.

And no volume control, I bypass mine on the la90 as it rather coloured the sound somewhat. I wonder when the B 100 will be released then as these piqued my interest more.

Thanks, powerbricks don’t bother me, prefer the look of the B200, so I guess it would be them, but no rush, let’s see how the intro pans out.

Like others have said, I'm scratching my head regarding multiple inputs and a USB port for firmware updates. I kind-of wish there was a beefier power supply that allowed for output to (nearly) double into 4 Ohms. Otherwise, the B200 looks a lot more like what I actually wanted when I bought my LA90D.

I don't understand all this Topping bashing. They were the first with a PFFB design that extracted 25db SINAD more (less) from TPA325x. Before PA5, the star was Aiyima A07 with 80-82 db performance. Just for a proof of concept they should get some respect.

And now you have a Class AB monoblock in a nice case for one third the price for a pair compared to Benchmak AHB2. And that is European dealer price.

There are many anecdotes of Topping products breaking etc. I have no numbers ere so it's hard to say since Topping is very popular with many more products out the world. I think a large chunk of the hate is just 'China bad' personally.

Most part of the bashing is due to bad failure rate in some models with bad/no customer service. I don't know whether the c s part has improved or not but I definitely noticed that after PA5's termination the upcoming models test phase became much longer than before. So it seems Topping learnt something from that.

My subjective part is: I feel like they made weird decisions with some of their new models in spite of the customer demands which are not too hard to find if someone follows such forums as ASR.

Otherwise yes, they made remarkable developments in the last few years with remarkable speed, so they deserve a piece from the audio market's cake.

This is pretty much what I have been waiting for from Topping. I really think everyone who has not operated a repair shop since the 70's and has Sony and Yamaha posters in their bedroom will be quite interested in these new products. *ducks*

I agree. I went from a Pioneer SX-750 to a pair of LA90Ds. The current rise of superior Chinese audio products is actually very similar the rise of Japanese audio products in the 70s.

((4 V*12,589)^2)/4 Ohm=633 watts
((4 V*12,589)^2)/8 Ohm=316 watts

22 db gain is much more than enough for 200 watt amp driven by 4V RMS balanced DAC

It depends. If you have room correction the input signal can become significantly lower. And often classical has peaks way below the maximum in recordings. So a preamp may be necessary, if your speakers are just a bit “deaf”.

Even the customer service "issues" are over blown in a none trivial number of cases.

Example ridiculous customer service expectations I've seen:

• I emailed them and they didn't respond in a few hours.... (They are based on the other side of the planet, it's the middle of the night, the weekend, or a holiday there)
• They want to know about proof of purchase. (no explanation should be needed)

One thing to note is most of us here aren't their target market. They are still a young Chinese based company, and China is still their target market. They have branched out and become better known on places like ASR, but they are far from a household name around the world.
