Making further progress, TOPPING’s new flagship amplifier will be launched in late May!

This amplifier is quieter than most DACs' multitone distortion!

Edit: added to the amplifier list, became #1 and best value in the first 2 graphs.

Probably this will be the Toppings's best shot so far, but the competition is tough though. I mean 2 monoblocks cost 1200 euros. You can buy a 2 channel Purifi 1ET400 power amp for this price, which measures excellent, has got the power, and more compect. Again my biggest problem is the seperated PSU. Nobody wants to hiding bricks...
Yeah, and it'll be 2x400w in 4ohm, so far more powerful. So I guess the Topping selling point will be even cleaner but less powerful.

Yes, I can imagine that it will measures even better than 1ET400. Not powerwise, but in most measuring scenarios. Even LA90/LA90D did that.

I don't understand all this Topping bashing. They were the first with a PFFB design that extracted 25db SINAD more (less) from TPA325x. Before PA5, the star was Aiyima A07 with 80-82 db performance. Just for a proof of concept they should get some respect.

And now you have a Class AB monoblock in a nice case for one third the price for a pair compared to Benchmak AHB2. And that is European dealer price.

Was surprised to see monoblocks with multiple inputs. And seems that there isn't any audio sense nor any other automated way of switching sources. One must manually change the source in both monoblocks. Interesting choice of functionality.

22 dB is just right for 4V RMS DAC
22 dB is poor, if you have high impedance speakers, as a DIY speaker builder I'd appreciate higher gain. Today's amps usually have at least 26 dB sometimes more.

Nevertheless, it's got very good measurements and it's a fresh and welcomed change to the endless copies of TPA3255 clones. I can't wait to see it measured here!

I wonder how often you need to update firmware in a power amp though ;)

The only thing I can think of is that it may have a signal sense and some kind of order if two (or three) signal appear at the inputs so to isolate one or two of them.

Particularly odd as that means you need a preamp/volume control for each source.

Apart from noise, sensitivity and gain, I presume all the other performance specs relate to the low gain setting.
Many of the Purifi etc amplifiers benefit from that as well, which makes it difficult to compare them.
I also presume they want you to use their Pre90 preamp, which does have a high output.
You're not going to want to use three of those, though, are you?
Still, it's pretty epic.

22dB=12,589
((4 V*12,589)^2)/4 Ohm=633 watts
((4 V*12,589)^2)/8 Ohm=316 watts

22 db gain is much more than enough for 200 watt amp driven by 4V RMS balanced DAC

A comparison of the B200 and LA90 Mono specs is striking more by the similarities than the differences.
And of course they look rather similar. I suspect the reason the B200 has three inputs is because the LA90 has three inputs, and maybe they even use the same power supply?
The B200 THD+N performs more like the LA90 mono, but looking at the noise and gain specs, it's like they traded a bit of gain for SNR.

This is pretty much what I have been waiting for from Topping. I really think everyone who has not operated a repair shop since the 70's and has Sony and Yamaha posters in their bedroom will be quite interested in these new products. *ducks*

I noticed a pattern in the specs. There are several different noise figures (sic) for mono/stereo, high/low gain, B200/LA90, but there's a strange consistency between them.

Take any gain figure in dB, divide by 5.5, and you get very close to the noise in uV - and that's the same for both amps.

So same amp with a bit lower gain to get this 1-2dB SINAD increase?

However,as it seems case was designed with better thermals in mind?
At 22 x 19 x 9 cm is still small but somehow looks more .
