Loxjie A40 all in one amp 2024

start desoldering the SSOP opamps and put in SSOP to DIP adapters
I don't think it's worth doing. The amplifier plays just fine. I once had a topping d30, installed an adapter on dip8 and having tried many operational amplifiers including expensive muses, I managed to find something that plays better than stock, but this loxjie plays an order of magnitude better in stock. There is absolutely no feeling that anything can be improved in this case. Better work on your acoustics.

Playing a continuous sine tone to find the analog signals;

On all three opamps I can measure the signal being played.
Interesting enough, the digital volume control actually works on the pre-amp signals, as on all 3 opamps the signals move up and down with the volume control.
Output from volume control seems to thru elco's acting as coupling capacitors.

Next, start desoldering the SSOP opamps and put in SSOP to DIP adapters :p
It would be interesting to know if the USB audio comes from the main DAC. Or is it like in A30.

Desoldered the opamp marked ? in an earlier post, it seems to be going directly to the class-D amplifier stage.
Tricky stuff, make sure you have the proper tools and know what you are doing
Next soldered in the SSOP to DIP adapter.
And put in the Sparkos Dual Discrete Opamp SS3602
It's towering high, should be a few mm to the lid, will put on some isolation for good measure anyway

The sound ?
YES !!! Finally hearing some magic I'm used to with my high end set.
Definitely a great upgrade from stock.

some magic
What do you mean with some magic? "some" sounds too poor for making this upgrade that cost half of amplifier. What characteristics improved? For example if i change eq from direct to tone it also sounds much more magic.
Funny to see professional connector plug, and in few centimetres Chinese 0.5 mm wire)) you can loose some additional magic with it))

does anyone know where can I actually buy this in canada? I cant seem to find any reviews or anything on it

final conclusion. the solution will be excellent for those who are switching from active acoustics, as well as for home theaters, perhaps for beginners on the path to audio, or for those who have a limited budget. it plays pretty well considering its price of 200 euros and the presence of a DAC on board. however, if you can add 3-4 hundreds dollars more, it is better to pay attention to devices of a higher level. I consider masturbation with re-soldering operational amplifiers a passed stage, it won’t play twice as good. decided for myself that I would leave the device for a home theater, but for sound there are better solutions.

Perhaps they stop manufacture it, because it disappeared from ali 3 weeks or so and now even on hifi-express. Your only way now is ao300.

reason why I am interested in A40, is becasue I HAD A0300, and the sound it produced was amazing.
BUUUT, it had a terrible hiss from right speaker, and a delay in playing sound, for example, you play youtube, pause video, press play within couple seconds, video starts going, but sounds comes on half a secong to a secong late.

unacceptable.

Maybe its manufacturing defect, you can try another one. waiting for the a40 to appear may be futile. try writing to the manufacturer at hifi-express through discord. You can find contact on page, they answer only through discord.

Do you think that another SMSL will be better?

"I consider masturbation with re-soldering operational amplifiers a passed stage" I'm guessing this might have been miss-spelled or translated ???

I read somewhere someone who bought A40 and actually had A0300, that all issues he had with a0300 are non existant on loxjie, even better sound on top of it.

I am not in a mood to go and reorder A0300 just to find out it does the same.

But they effectively are the same, with very minor changes... The issues you had were quality control issues and you might or might not get the same with Loxije.

What I have seen, they look different, have different screens, different remotes, different connections, so quite different.

If I had a way to buy one, I would write here

They are as different as Marantz and Denon. Different makeup

Hello Colleagues. I wanted to try a class D amplifier. First, I bought the much praised WiiM Amp... I don't know, very good functionality, but for me it simply sounds too dry and rough at higher volumes. What's more, from Amaz... I just got used equipment and the power supply was still making noise, so there was no wow effect... I returned it after 2 days. So then I bought Loxjie a40. This time, new equipment arrived. The sound is completely different: warm, clean, the stage is wide, deeper and stronger. I did not expect. The LDAC quality is very good, the new codec works so well that I can't hear the difference from USB. The built-in DAC CS...sounds better than the Cambridge audio DAC 100 I already had. Volume down with the TV remote also works via HDMI. As for the equipment, I have Heco Aurora 700 speakers. The Pioneer a-30 amplifier I previously had simply did not sound as good and was also weaker in terms of power. I'm still considering fosi v3 or za3 with 48V power supply + WiiM pro plus? Will it sound even better or will there be more power? What do you advise, dear colleagues? Is there any point in continuing to play?

as someone who had tried SMSL A0300 (which "should" be practically same as A40) but had to return due to buziing from right channel, and now own Fosi V3 and SMSL Dac, I can confidently say that A0300 sounds way better. Simply more dynamic sound, more stage, way more present vocals, just another level of engagment in sound.

You would be downgrading in actual sound quality going to V3/ZA3.

Yes, I'm afraid I might make it worse. So far, I haven't found any problems with the quality of workmanship in the Loxjie A40. Will the Fosi Za3 be noticeably stronger in terms of power? Heco Aurora 700 supposedly have an impedance of 8 Ohm, but tests show that it is more like 4 Ohm. Can I find a better set in a similar budget, maybe +$200? WiiM Amp sounded completely different, sterile, dry... I don't know where all the admiration comes from?
