is this a valid way of synchronizing two USB DACs?

If word is implemented correctly the converters will run sample aligned to the rising word clock edge. Jitter is always sub-sample, so a PLL does not prevent one from getting the right 'starting point'.

Thanks, I had understood the opposite from the manual's text. Now it is clear.

Hallo if i use an RME HDSPe AES and put 8 SMSL SU-2 AES to XLR DACS to the Out's what happen to the Clocks in the DACS, will i get massivlie Phaseshifts on Analogue Outs?

Between the DACS

Even all DACS get the same AES Signal ?

Each Dac used for one 2 way Speaker Treble and Midbas in an 7.2 System also One for 2 both Subs!

Will this realy Bad ???

That should work. All DACs are synced to the same clock source (HDSPe AES) via their AES input signal. No phase shift at all, if the SMSL units work as they should.

Thank you man that will save me much Money, at the Moment i can't effort an HAPI MK3 with 16 Chanel Out LOOOOL
Also an VenityPro need to wait ;)

I will use an HDMI to 4x i2S to AES (rom Audiophonics) Board for input HDMI 7.1 to that RME HDSPe Card LPCM only.

Using CamillaDSP for FIR aktive surround crossover on an PC with Windows or Linux if linux will work.

Will also try this Card on an RPI5 with PCIX1 expander Board if linux works, that will give me an realy smal Software Based DSP on a smal Footprint ;)

In an 19" 2HE Enclousure or smaler Desktop device.

Internaly with 64Bit Processing FIR or IIR.

CamillaDSP supports ASIO as well so it must work like sugested with that RME Card, instead of using an DAW Software.

RME Card on his way, Yourny ahaed ;)

https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...l-surround-digital-aktive-setup.440807/page-3

Also this way i have the possibility to add an second HDPe Card in the Future and have than 32 Chanels Out for an ATMOS rendering of 16 aktive 2 Way Speaker.

But for that i need an ATMOS HDMI to AES Converter or Surroundprocessor and they all downsample the Out to 48kHz for now because off liceses or Copyprotection issue.

Hyperion DPR-16 say 192kHz Processing but no word about what comes from AES Out!

I think relevant questions here

If it's not too much trouble, would you be able to show us the contents of your card when it arrives? I have a RME HDSPE AES32 card sitting in a box unused, I want to sell it but I don't know how complete it is. I have a suspicion there are missing bits.

There was only 2 Cards one Grey Connector between the Cards and an Smal Cable with 2 white Connectors (See Picture) for Sync in and Out on the first Card, Also an MIDI Adaptercabel for this round smal Connector on the Slot Bracket.

If i remove the Card from the Computer again , next days i will make an Photo.
