Is there a RME ADI-2 DAC alternative?

Maybe something like this https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/lo...audio-unit-plugins-on-your-macs-system-output

There are certainly several amazing AU EQ plugins that will match, and outperform the integrated DSP on the RME. I love the RME, but the DX7s is a great sounding DAC, and I doubt you'll get much improvement in the long run.

Looks like it's EOL, but I'm sure there's something similar you can dig up.

EDIT - https://rogueamoeba.com/soundsource/ - This looks like it will work and then some. In fact, it looks pretty awesome. Should be included functionality in MacOS IMO. Gonna get it myself.

Does anyone have any information if there will be a new version of the DAC soon?

The RME? There is a stripped down version of the Pro coming out, without the bells and whistles, but with the prise the DAC is already getting I doubt they'll mess with it for a while. RME is known to keep their products in the pipeline for a long time.

This is confusing for me. I thought that the RME ADI-2DAC was a stripped down version of the Pro? So is it a replacement of the ADI2-DAC then? Or am I missing something. Also thanks for answering. Or do you have a site where you have read about it?

It does just what it should. Can put any plugin(s) on any output device. Can even specify to use them only on certain software outputs, but not the global bus. Pretty awesome, and a perfect sub for your original requirement of a master EQ with your existing interface.

I just downloaded the trial version. It is very good indeed!

Sonarworks Reference is a good option for EQ correction. Or if you really want to go all out with EQ get the FabFilter Pro-Q 3.

Thread participants discussing the "RME ADI-2", are you referring to the new "RME ADI-2 Pro FS", or are you actually referring to the much older and now out of production "RME ADI-2" which has much poorer s/n performance in manufacturer's specs?

Well...

As the title of the thread clearly mentions: We are mostly talking about the ADI-2 DAC.

The ADI-2 is a much older product. Then, came the ADI-2 PRO, ADI-2 DAC and the ADI-2 PRO FS.

RME is known to keep their products in the pipeline for a long time.
Mostly because there is no need for upgrade.

Current models are ADI-2 DAC, ADI-2 Pro fs and the new ADI-2 fs.

ADI-2 DAC and Pro fs share same DAC, although the Pro contains actually 2 stereo DACs (and an ADC). It doesn't support remote control, though.

The simple, non-pro, has one DAC and an ADC. I guess the same than the Pro fs (but single DAC).
No USB, no remote, no EQ, and quite a few other functionalities less.
This is the newest introduction.
It's also, by far, the cheapest.
As far as I know, nobody measured it so far.

The old ADI-2 was previous DAC chip generation.
The non-fs Pro version is almost the same than the fs, with same chips, but without the femtosecond clock.

Most people here refer to the DAC, the Pro or the Pro fs.
This thread is obviously about the ADI-2 DAC.
