Is 96khz LDAC Bluetooth useless? Should LDAC be capped at 44/48khz to limit compression loss?

I have several nice LDAC Bluetooth dongles such as Qudelix-5K. The dongle allows the LDAC codec to be limited to 44khz, rather then the default 24/96 Bluetooth connection. Is there any point to running LDAC at full 96khz when listening to HD source material (24/96 FLAC)? Doesn't the lossy BT compression discard more then would be gained from keeping the HD bandwidth?

Running LDAC at full 96kHz will allow you to transmit ultrasonic noise to the BT receiver that may be present in your tracks, at the expense of decreased fidelity in the frequency range that you can actually hear.

In other words: it's completely idiotic.

I thought LDAC runs 24/96 by default. I really wonder what is objectively true. I've only seen measurements for LDAC at 24/44.1 vs 16/44.1

I always keep music in 44.1khz 16 bit FLAC which also helps when putting a USB stick in the car stereo or a boombox since other devices don't up/down sample very gracefully sometimes. It's the whole range of human hearing. Unless you're a zookeeper and have a brown bear that likes wearing headphones and listening to dog whistle quartets, hi-res isn't doing anything.
 
I think everyone is misunderstanding OP. He's questioning if raising/lowering the sample rate will minimize the compression artifacts of the LDAC codec. It's a fair question to ask given how running LDAC at 16-bit degrades the audio, and that LDAC defaults to 24-bit/96KHz. I'd personally run LDAC at 24-bit/44.1, as a SINAD of 112 looks pretty dang good for a lossy codec (and yes, we aren't bats).
