I don't like The Beatles, am I the only one?

I'm a fanatic music lover
But I just don't get the hype about The Beatles
Am I the only one?
Do you like other pop music or 60s music icons? If so which ones?

I absolutely detest them with my every cell. I like Canterbury sound from the same era, what superior musicsmanship and pancultural universal appeal. Sadly Prog and Fusion are the bastard step-childs of the Atmos music scene, Genesis and Rush are not prog.

Try the Rolling Stones.
None of them beats the Who of course
Yes the Who with two and three part harmony's but they were arguably in second wave of the British invasion, not in the first with the Beatles.

I've been fascinated by the Beatles since they first arrived on our shores. But as time goes by, I find them less interesting. I've been listening to more classical music than anything else and there's a simplicity to most of their output that sounds more simple-minded as time goes by. They do have the ultimate Rock 'n' Roll story/myth, but the music doesn't live up to the myth with a few exceptions.

Yes they peaked at Revolver, then tried to go psychedelic and quirky after that. Music is a personal thing for listener's tastes.

All fanatic music lovers with a wide taste should love the Beatles! If not you should appreciate them from a musicology point of view as they advanced and expanded elements in recorded music and then you might end up liking them. Like Miles Davis invented 7 new styles, Led Zeppelin invented modern rock with wider dynamic shading used all over from Nirvana to many. etc.

what getting girls to scream at them? Elvis and Frank did that. They wre mostly pop stars, that "want to hold your hand".

To me Nirvana are much better than The Beatles

I can understand not liking the Beatles as performers, but I find it hard to believe that a music lover cannot find anything to like in Lennon/McCartney compositions.
My ex is a cellist - she has a very lucrative sideline playing in a quartet at weddings, etc.. For this, their repertoire is a mixture of light classics and old pop songs arranged for strings. She finds ABBA's songs much more interesting from a compositional viewpoint than the Beatles stuff.

George was the best Beatle, and seeing as I’m from their neck of the woods I’m qualified to speak about it

I’m actually not a huge fan,my mum and dad preferred the stones,it was one or the other in our family, and Hawkwind are way better than the Beatles.
