Hello
Long term audio lover now trying to find a solution to enjoy music a bit more with a current hearing loss that I have...

VA has giving me various hearing aids don't appear to ever work very well on the right ear that has severe drop out at 4k Hz

Q. I have Sennheiser hd600 phones, and wondering what I might get to get to perform left/right equalization..

I've never used headphone amp with independent means to adjust...

Thank you

I dont see how an amp can help you here. But parametric equalizing (Parametric EQ) might be a solution.
You can EQ the left and the right side independent from each other, so you can apply a treble boost only on one side.

There are harmonics and other things that define treble above 4khz but I am sure you can enjoy music not going beyond that. An imbalance is another thing and may be very bothersome. I believe a Wiim (example) lets you adjust sides independently and the solution may be to adjust it to below your limit.

I have hearing loss at HF too (though not that low) and since I listen to concerts with the same ears I listen to my HiFi and the loss has been gradual I hadn't noticed and didn't know until I was tested.
Unless you want to try to hear music how you used to (which will sound unnatural compared to every day real life experience now) my advice is don't bother.

You can try with your computer. There are a lot of apps that allow independent left/right EQ. At least this will give you an idea of what is possible with headphones.

You'll probably run into issues with headroom (and thus distortion) once you start boosting stuff though, so you need to reduce gain, which is where the need for an amp could come in.

If you have a Samsung phone, there's an app built in that allows you to characterize your hearing and compensate to some degree (using headphones). It's called Adapt Sound.
