I don't like The Beatles, am I the only one?

I still like them...growing up with them, those songs are embedded in my early life... But I wouldn't want to listen to them all of the time.

I do think one would be hard pressed to show a more interesting evolution of a musical group's sound over an eight year run...

To me they were just okay. Didn't bother me but I wasn't a huge fan. They certainly dominated the airwaves when I was growing up.

Never cared one way or the other. Have got several Beatles albums just because "everyone should have some Beatles in their collection", but to be honest, I never listen to them.

For me, I'd take The Kinks singles from the 60s over the Beatles for pop music. The Yardbirds were more adventurous musically/sonically.

Yes many were but in a way there was a wave in Britain were the lads there copying and innovating on American styles of Pop and Blues. Both Beatles and Stones did versions of American hits on their early albums. The Kinks on the other hand were quite original lyrically anyway.

It's not that I don't like them. I just never feel motivated to listen to any of their songs over anything else I listen to. Nobody doubts their historical significance and influence. I've never owned any of their albums mostly because their music was overplayed already.

After all it may be all right to not like The Beatles themselves (even more as two of them are dead already), but to love their music instead.

Grew up with them, one of my all-time favorites, one of the most important bands ever....but they haven't been a band for almost 55 years now otoh. I like them more than Pearl Jam....

They were a very tight band - and the first of the UK bands to really break through repackaging the excitement and thrill of American rock and roll. This, combined with British music hall music and a bit of blues rediscovery, (pretty much) led to all the rock music of the late 60s, 70s, etc. Much like the Sex Pistols in the mid/late 70s were seen as reconnecting rock music with its original thrill and rush after the prog era. There were much better bands from the punk era than the Sex Pistols, but if you talk about punk...
