Fiio K11 (and K11 R2R) dac-amp

A bit surprised there is basically no feedback on Fiio K11. Looks fairly nice with quite a few features. Maybe a poker-faced panther...?

Looks like it test with a SINAD very similar to the K7 but amp side of things is a bit lacking in comparison. These days its not hard to find a used or open box K7 for the price of the K11 but man this thing looks sleek.

Fiio just released a R2R version of their popular compact dac-amp.

The most interesting aspect is the price, around 159usd. A quite affordable option to experiment the "mojo" of R2R is real to your brain or not.

It features a NOS option and the a nice ladder volume pot.

Here is the link

"K11 R2R (NOS/OS MOD) Dual Mode"

In NOS mode, vocals are moved back one step compared to OS mode.

The stage spreads wider left and right.
The sound is more natural and lively.

On the other hand, OS mode has the duality of moving the vocals a little further forward, allowing you to enjoy an analytical sound, compared to NOS mode, and making the stage a little narrower.

"nos" good!
I would like to describe unorganized sounds as more ‘acoustic’.

Dude, could you at least use a translator? I guess my thread attracted him lol

If you want some extra harmonics that's not in the recording then please do use a NOS DAC, but if you want it to sound 'like the artist intended' then filters really should be used. Not that I think it will be a particularly audible difference anyways..

I scientifically agree with that ^^

I’ve one of these on its way from China now. Very excited to see how it sounds hooked up to my xDuoo TA-66 driving my Sennheiser x Drop HD 6XX.

I will also compare it to my speaker chain DDC & DAC combination (Gustard U18, Musician Draco).

All sorts of ASR-unfriendly gear!

If it sounds it probably sounds wrong.

Cheap enough to get one and compare level matched to my Rme,what if I don’t hear a difference (I probably won’t anyway at 51 years old in a factory for most of my life do you level match by holding a voltmeter on the unconnected rca outputs? Any easy howto guide anywhere for this?

Play a 60Hz test tone on loop (can be created using Room EQ Wizard, or downloaded below).

Set your multimeter to V AC, and measure the voltage at the other end of the RCA cable:

Can you connect a minidisc out to this dac/amp? i don't think you can right? this would need a L/R line in im affraid.

Well not many minidisc models had optical out... but if yours does then use that of course.

Otherwise, the FiiO K11 is a DAC with a headphone amp, so digital inputs to convert to analog. You then would need an ADC or audio interface (ADC/DAC).
