Electron microscope slow-motion video of vinyl LP

Hate vinyl or enjoy it, what this guy had to do in order to get an animated electron microscope video of LP playback is fascinating and far more esoteric than I would have guessed:

I understand that he is producing an animation from spaced still-shots rather than the normal dynamic motion. Nice clean shots.

I am familiar with LaserDisc but the SelectaVision one I missed, somehow. Neat.

Correct.

He takes 60 frames and stitches them together, each separated by 50 microns of movement between each.

Yes, it's an Audio Technica but many on the vinyl forums consider the Signet line superior to the AT line (rightly or wrongly). Whether technically superior or not it still has a mystique that makes it desirable, much like vinyl replay in general.

This guy has the most amazing shop...electron microscopes, band saws, vacuum chambers, vapor deposition....

But apparently no "sputter coater" at the moment (whatever that is).
