I'm thinking of getting a DDRC-24 for its Dirac capabilities for my 2.0 system. I use a 10-year-old Marantz receiver with all-analog sources (CD player, newly acquired Audioengine B-Fi streamer, receiver's radio tuner, record player that I almost never use). This receiver includes 2 tape loops, so I would have the option of installing the DDRC-24 in a loop, rather than between the pre and power amps (the receiver has pre-out main-in capability), which is what the minidsp diagrams show. (But modern equipment doesn't have tape loops!)
My intuition is that the tape loop is "better" because then the DDRC would be getting full-amplitude analog signals, rather than a volume-reduced signal from the preamp, due to possible low level noise.
Is this correct? Or does it not matter?
Thanks!
