Hi, I am new to this forum and audio generally so please forgive me when I perhaps state the obvious or ask stupid questions.
I have purchased a 43 inch Hisense TV which has virtually every imaginable connectivity. I have a ten year old pair of sony wifi headphones which is on a charging dock. No bluetooth connectivity. From this is a 3.5mm headphone lead, a red and a white lead and a lead which I plug into the front of my cheap antuquated box shelf speaker which mutes the speaker sound and directs all audio through the h/phones.
I want to improve the speakers and research has led me to the Edifier 1280DB box shelf speakers from amazon at about €120.00. These connect bluetooth, RCA, auxilary and wifi. at some time in the future I shall invest in another sony bluetooth Headphones. At present I am happy with these old timers. Anyway I want to buy the
Edifier speakers and perhaps connect them to the h/phone dock with the red and white cables. There are also these connection on the tv. Assuming I can connect speakers to h/phones how would I go about muting the speakers and having audio through the h/phones.
Am I making hard work for myself and should I just get a new pair of Sony bluetooth headphones such as Sony WH-CH72ON at amazon for about€79.00.and be done with it. I assume I can connect tv, h/phones and speakers all together. Would I still be able to mute the speakers. I really am sorry to have resembled "War & Peace"but my ignorance shows through. TIA jack

Welcome to ASR!
Does your HiSense TV have digital optical audio output? If it does, you can use it to connect to your Edifier.

Hi NTK, many thanks for that. Circumstances have overtaken my previous plans.
I have decided to purchase a Majority Snowdan soundbar and plan on getting Avantree headphones. Connection with optical leads and a splitter.
I am stuck and perhaps you would assist please. Scenario is soundbar with sound modes, bass and treble adjustments. H/phones also with sound modes and bass +treble adlustement. I would like the soundbar settings to dictate the overall sound and for the h/phone settings to be non effective.. This way I can get cheaper h/phones with no sound modes or bass and treble, but they do have larger ear pads cos I am hard of hearing. Hope this makes sense and wonder if you can please help. Thanks again jack
