Edifier MR-5 Description / Stand Question

The most sensible question in this thread. What's the point of a marketing description if this Chinese guy makes noise like all the previous ones
From my experience, not all of them. But it's a crucial to get this right, as many have these as computer speakers...hearing hissing is going to ruin the experience

I've asked people of varying degrees of expertise several times why most active speakers make noise from their driver when idle, but I still haven't gotten a clear answer.

Cheap amps inside

Not at all. Google "Dynaudio LYD hum hiss". These are expensive, high-quality active speakers.
The hiss can only come from the amps.
I've modified some cheap Edifiers. I threw out the hissing amp (so both become passive speakers) and used a ta2020 based class D Muse amp instead. Zero hissing. 2x25w which is plenty enough on the desktop

I'm getting these soon so will test out the "hiss" as it's something I also noticed with actives in the past. I will be connecting using XLR from DAC in pre-amp mode but will also test fixed output from it and see if the hiss is more obvious with the MR5's volume maxed vs leaving the DAC in line out fixed volume and adjusting vol on the actives. I assume hiss will exist using USB from PC as it's still fully using the internal amps.

DAC is the Luxsin X9 and Topping DX5 II for ref.

Definitely . I know the r2850db are pretty quiet.

I'm a fan of these stands I found on Amazon.

Hi to those of you wondering whether the MR-5 hisses or not. I can tell you that I can put my ear right up to the tweeters and there is no noise with the volume maxed out.

Previously, I had owned a pair of Paradigm Active Atoms, and you could hear the hiss from about 18" away.

I also found a pair of stands for the MR-5 and I should be receiving them shortly. They are stands with wooden top and bottom and 4 metal posts. They cost about USD$15 pair. They look like the stands in the above post, except there are 4 metal posts at each corner. If anybody is interested, I will be post photos of them when I receive and have tested them.

Anybody knows when this speaker will be released wordwide / Europe?

Taking "teardown" a bit far! Neat to see that though. Seems pretty well put together.

We have already a teardown video.
Highlights:
-2xTAS5802 and ACM8625P
-Mid driver is sealed
-12mm MDF is used
-power supply is shielded
I'm most surprised with the internal construction and how much plastic they used. They even went as far as to build a "diffuser"/mounting frame for the bass driver with 2 slot ports.
Unfortunately the video doesn't show at least a basic frequency response graph. And "teardown"...more like "rip and tear, until it is done" :)

Well at least now we know what's inside.;) And we actually have components frequency response from this video. My pair is coming already to me from China. Maybe i will measure THD at listening position, but my mic is kinda noisy.

I am actually surprised with the attention to details. Everything that needs to be sealed is sealed, cabinet itself is glued and have stiffeners. I got them for around 150 USD/pair and at that price they are unbeatable

I love what Edifier is doing. Smart design
