Classic Audio MC Pro Phonostage Review

I'm waiting for the MM model (I heard that it will only be 24,000 Pounds).
But that will be the price with an included high quality snake like power cable that usually cost 9999€, so it’s ok.
New parts arrived, so a limited run is now available at the old price (GBP720)...

People say that about me at work too, but that’s only because I’m direct and get stuff done….amazing how many people that makes feel uncomfortable.
I’ve learnt to ignore it.
Gyrodec -> Rega Apheta 2 LOMC -> MC PRO -> Goldpoint attenuators -> i. MF X-A50 and ii. Albarry 1008 MkII power amps [Rothwell River interconnects throughout]
Recently purchased after doing my own spreadsheet, didn't have a few things I had an urge to play with but nothing that I actually needed to play with.
Excellent results, better I would say than my 20 year old MF X-LP2 triple chassis [crisper, less sibilant, even cut some hum], 63/73dB gain plenty for the .35 output of the Rega, the 120 fixed impedance works well and - cliché alert - silent blackness when you listen for it. The LXFilter is a strange one - it does subtly alter the sound but I found a sweet spot [for me] at about 1/4 way round the dial. I don't have a golden ear trumpet but everything from Cream to Sade was just converted into the music as it should, particularly with the Albarry's. Spot on & thanks Michael for a well engineered and executed stage, just great.

Alright, it's not quite the MC Pro.. but I don't think we have an MM Pro thread yet.
The amount of headroom and juice in this guy is quite remarkable compared to my previous phono. Takes up much less space too..
I had considered getting some attenuators per Michael's suggestion, but majority of my records are quite pristine and not that hot. Likely going to get an ADC with better headroom in the near future, but it sounds great for now.

Are you plugged in via analog or digital to those Genelecs? If you are using analog, adding an ADC won't really change much since you are already converting analog to digital in the speakers. So you'd be A>D>A>D

On spin though is Phantom Spell, a "70's Prog" side-project by the Seven Sisters vocalist.
Definitely a fun listen if you like Kansas with a slight NWOBHM edge to it:
The Genelecs are being fed Digital from a MiniDSP SHD, which is where the Phono analog and all of my other digital and analog sources are going into.

Woot! Really wanted to buy one of the MC Pro's but didn't get to it before discontinuation. I know selling to the US right now is fraught but I absolutely want a top tier moving coil preamp with balanced outputs so hopefully that can happen.
AFAIK, the version MK2 with SMD layout is ongoing and it performs even better
Anyway I have MK1 and it is exceptional.
I've been dealing with the EU (far more punitive) for quite some time now, so the situation may not be as dire as you think...

Awesome. Any idea what pricing or availability will be? If pricing is at least somewhat in line with the MC Pro you've got at least one immediate customer right here.
These will be available towards the end of the year. The first run of 12 units will be UK only, at a price of £850: more expensive than the original due to parts cost and the amount of time I've sunk into the project. I expect the first run to go quite quickly, so by the time the postal service has settled down enough with the tariff situation to make orders to the US viable again it may be possible to start sending these out.
