I love this photo in particular, because I was a heavy Flickr user right around the time it was anonymously posted to one of the "for critique" groups there, and some amazing comments got posted about it before it was revealed who the photographer was. :) His entire portfolio is incredible, though.
Yes, for me he is one of the pioneers of Photography, together with Ansel Adams and Berenice Abbott.
Just absolutely amazing pictures in B&W:)

It's just one of those hobbies i'd wish i had more time for:(

One of my many majors in college was Mass Comm/Still Photography for 3 yrs and it was all black and white/darkroom but this is way before digital so don't have many images to share. Will have to scan some of them... worshiped Ansel Adams back then.
