I see the AR5000 quite often compared to the HD600/650/6XX. I own a HD650 and like it. Although these are not the most exciting headphones imo.
Will the AR5000 be noticably different from the HD6's and as such worth buying? Or will it be more of the same?
Both are excellent, and will come down to a question of taste. I auditioned the AR5000 for about an hour in a store along with the 600 and another known headphone in the same price category, but not the 650. What impressed me about the 600 is that comfy midrange focus (apparently, the same with the 650). However, the Aune excels in many areas. For one, the bass is fast and every note can be heard, without sounding at all boomy or overpowering. I never knew Supertramp had such a wonderful bassist. The bass is uncanny. The highs are extended without any harshness. In fact, the highs are so pure that you wish there were more - and this is coming from someone who is allergic to highs and boomy bass, or even constant sub-bass. Orchestral music sounds expansive, whereas the 600 sounded more claustrophobic. Wagner tubas sound they way they should (on the Aune) - the glory of the gods.
Also, the Aune is very comfortable to wear, with very little clamp. I wore it this summer and was never bothered. The clamping force is very light and cushiony.

The impedance of this headphones is nearly flat, so 22 ohm output impedance of my amp will not cause problems?
Or am i wrong?

I think I'm starting to understand what you guys (or girls) are talking about. I think many people 'conform' to certain targets and I think this is where all the discrepancies come from. I don't 'conform' to any target consciously. I already know what I like to hear and what my personal 'target' is. I'm an audiophile who also does music production (film/instrumentals). These are two very different worlds. I bought the Aune for purely musical enjoyment. I have different headphones that will give me different sound signatures. I don't eq each one so they all sound the same, frequency wise. The Aune, as far as frequencies go, is pretty close to my ideal. I do have a tendency - a big one - to favour evenly balanced sound. Of course, I would prefer better front-to-back imaging and seperation, but that has nothing to do with frequency response. So, I guess it makes me pretty old-fashioned.
front-to-back imaging and separation has a lot to do with frequency response. try messing with eq when listening to a pair of headphones. you will definitely find that imaging and separation will change when you change eq drastically.

Science says you will be having 0.9dB less bass and about -1dB less treble than when driven from a (close to) 0 ohm output.
Usually this goes the other way and some dynamic headphones will have a bit more lows and a tiny bit more treble when driven from a higher output impedance source.

After months of using these headphones, I can confidently say they are the most versatile pair I've ever owned. The sound quality is pristine and smooth, free from the distortion that plagues many others. They handle EQ adjustments beautifully and maintain a well-balanced default frequency response. While the soundstage isn't the widest, the depth is truly remarkable for a custom-designed dynamic headphone.

Yeah, very nice low distortion for low-mid price headphone! What material is used for drivers and pads?
Driver is multi layer polymer driver. The main layer is almost certainly PET and the damping layer on top I dont know.
The earpads are hybrid, they are fabric with the outer side made from fenestrates pleather.

How wide compared to HD490 Pro or 560S or HD6xx?
