AsciLab speakers are about to launch

I tend to agree. I picked out KEF because out of the mainstream brands they are possibly the one who has a marketing strategy that includes a strong element of technical data (their white papers).

I think most hifi punters would be as scared of cardioid as they are active DSP speakers.
Most indeed … a mention of cardioid (especially full range cardioid) even to many here on ASR results in folks looking at me like I am an alien. Mention that plus variable directivity and you are from another universe :p … all it takes is one listen to a properly designed cardioid system and then one understands. I can now not accept anything less. Thanks to D&D and Soundfield for sucking me into this crazy club:cool:

No doubt about the audible benefits of cardioid. If there was an affordable big name branded speaker - it would sell like hotcakes, after a single audition as you suggest.

To me the lack of cardioid uptake relates to additional cost (substantial) and the fact its mainly utilised by small boutique manufacturers.

The $10k Ascilabs solution looks like a game changer price and performance wise!
Even the cheaper A6B with cardioid bass modules would be amazing.

These guys don't play around. Just wish we could order some in the US!

Well, There is already simulated data. I'm thrilled to share this data on this forum.. Cause it will be a kind of what you guys have never seen before ;)

Nice thanks, i guess Nuyes and Armir will promote the measurements here too.
There is a ruff competition with Speakers looks like the AsciLab A6B; Buchardt E50, March Audio Sointuva, Radiant Claritiy, Atlasharmonic Alto. Just they i know, maybe more.
If AsciLab really can deliver at calculated ~3000€/$ they will crush the competition.

:)

I must say, I am watching this thread with a great deal of interest. A pair of A6B actives (if I have the model right) could be a good move, one day. The MTM one looks interesting, and the option of being able to add the bass/woofer speaker later is pretty compelling.

I won't bring in other manufacturer names but there are some seriously tempting and very high performance options becoming available in the $2K to $5K a pair category. Hard choices for those in the market.

At last someone listened to me about bass modules :p
Really,REALLY interesting!

For someone who are interested in our cardioid system, here are some datas we got till now.
Most of acoustical design are decided. The only left is about cosmetic detail and usability.

PS. Some distortion peaks in THD graph is rattle noise from NFS hardware.

Crazy good!

@AsciLab , i guess thats the Data from the MTM + Bass Module, right?
Awesome Cardioid System! Little bit narrow vertical beamwith but still great, just nitpicking.
And thats the best EIR (Estimated inroom Response) of all your speakers i think, nice Job!
Still in time as planned to sell in Europe? :D

Can I mention how impressed I am to see basically below 0.2% harmonic distortion above 200 Hz?

And also below -40 dB MTD between 200 Hz and 5000 Hz. Beautiful!

What are the crossover frequencies? Both for C6C and C6C+BX8C.
