AsciLab speakers are about to launch

Nice looking speaker system. I assume the above is a rendering ? How does Cable management fit as I don't see having cables dangling over those rear bass drivers as a good idea. Here's Kii3 with BXT

If it's like the Kii Three, Erin's Audio corner said there's a +10db jump from the in room bass response. Hope this speaker does that also.

I have expressed some concern previously and but after some thought, I think that to a large extent it is a non issue, and if one desires it can be dealt with EQ.

If there was something that could be improved on the two way Ascilab speakers without turning them into a three way or a cardioid, it would the discontinuity in the directivity between 750 Hz and 2000 Hz, it goes from 110° on each side below 750 Hz, to 60° on each side right above 750 Hz, and slowly goes to 50° on each side. A more regular narrowing between 750 Hz and 2000 Hz would probably be better. Ironically, the 5" models are marginally better than the 6" models on this aspect.

As a result of this, there's a sharp rise in the Sound Power DI better 600 and 2000 Hz which may or may not introduce an undesired impact on the sound at a distance. This is another way of seeing the phenomenon.

View attachment 420789Of course, that is just me speculating, speaker design is a matter of compromise, there may be other constraint that prevent Ascilab from achieving this or make Ascilab prioritize other characteristics than this. I would love to hear what @AsciLab thinks.
From my understanding an in room graph like that, which basically turns flat above the crossover point is because of the constant directivity above the crossover point instead of a narrowing radiation pattern. I never bothered to look up the definition of EIRR so I might be wrong.
In my limited experience I prefer a constant (and low) directivity, it sounds more 'open' and more 'clarity' to me. Of course it's subjective and anecdotal.

@Ascilabs what are your impressions of the new Purifi tweeter range?

This looks to be the next step forward in speaker design. 1/3 (or less hopefully) the price of Kii bxt and better drivers. Other companies will have some catching up to do regarding price if the supply is met on these
After having a great startup, pricing can change very fast ... look at eversolo/xidoo and others.
They all do the work to earn money, not for charity, snakeoilvendors excluded, they do less work to make more money.

Funny aspect: MMF produces turnables, and their explanation for their name is simply 'make money fast'. Honest, at least.

Ok, guys,it will be March 2025 in just a couple of weeks, and we still are not even seeing an AsciLab web site, or an international release date for any of your products. What gives? When can we expect to see the release of at least one of your products? And a website? How far along are you? Everything going well?

How about a little communication here about some concrete details of when these products are going to become available for purchase?

I think I missed the part where AsciLabs somehow owes you something??

If you want it that bad, buy a ticket to Seoul and buy a pair. Geez. Take a chill pill. No need for such aggression.

Sorry, the title of this thread is "Ascilab speaker are about to launch" and it's first dated May 1, 2024. It's now nearly eight months later, and there's been no availability, no timetable, and no website. I'm at a loss regarding what universe asking the manufacturer when things are going to happen is considered an unfair or "hateful' or "entitled" or "uncivil" question.

Let’s just try and remember that launching a new product into a very competitive market can be more challenging and difficult than initial enthusiastic optimism might prove out. Showing our new Manufacturer Guests some amount of courtesy is requested and asking for updates does can be done in a civil and respectful tone.

They don’t owe us anything in the end. And product launches can be a very dynamic process with many moving parts. Set backs and delays are to some degree inevitable. Be kind and show some compassion.

Please and thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

I have been quietly following this thread. Like me, most likely you will need a translator app to follow. It looks like the local demand is absorbing all of the supply. There seem to be some talk about capacity expansion.

When can we expect to see the release of at least one of your products? And a website?

There is a website listing AsciLab products -- here. I don't think they sell overseas.

( I am not affiliated with them. I am eagerly following their developments, and may purchase something that fit my needs when they open up for international sales. )

They have a Website but its korean, you can use autotranslate to read Something. This is a Copy and Google translate from one of there Last Posts:
"Domestic [southkorea] sales are higher than expected, so overseas releases are delayed.
To enable smoother production, we plan to expand our warehouse and production facility before this summer.
Currently, the production limit of bookshelves (C and F series) is about 100-150 trillion won per month, which is not even enough to meet domestic demand. Once the planned expansion facility is completed, monthly production is expected to increase three to five times compared to current levels."
You can read Here: https://audiolabinsight.com/t/ascilab/143/615
As you can see they are busy and also Develope new speakers. Scale up the production will Take some time i guess, but they seem to be fast.
Edit: boxerfan was faster :D

Ok, fine. I apologize if I was a trifle harsh, but, I did find it concerning that nothing in the way of updates seemed to coming out, and with it being a new start up, those concerns were magnified. I obviously am very enthusiastic about their products, and if they can deliver on their promises, one of their models will definitely find its way to my very short prospective upgrade list. And no, the cash allocated for that upgrade is not burning a hole in my pocket, but I would just like to be given a reasonable expectation of when we can expect things to start occurring. As I'm sure we all would. Look forward to seeing the day when sales are thrown open to the rest of the world.

Just sensible to get everything ‘right’ from the beginning, rather then having to revise production, sales models later.

And no, the cash allocated for that upgrade is not burning a hole in my pocket, but
Hope you dont get +25% duty tariffs in the US on top because of the Aluminium woofer
I am also not very patient and wish the speaker would be aviable tomorrow, but till then i Care more about other projects.
