Could you tell us something about the difference of the active and passive version? How much of an upgrade would it be if someone already owns very good preamplifier and power amp? I know: anything replied on this silly question would be mostly anecdotal, but still..View attachment 390717
And for A6B, It’s easily changeable back plate. Same form factor with plate amp for active version. So if one wants to upgrade to active version from passive, only need to replace back plate.
Here are the preliminary measurements that Asci have shared so farCould you tell us something about the difference of the active and passive version? Edited for typo
Gorgeous! Can you say which Purifi driver you’re using?View attachment 390703View attachment 390704View attachment 390706
Finally we got real market product. Not prototype.
Hope for you guys to see these soon world widely.
Will you be offering woofer grilles at launch for the A6Bs? They'd be my pick of the bunch but I think the Purifi woofers lack a certain cleanliness that might get them vetoed in our living room
Thanks for confirming! I saw the earlier thread but I wasn't sure if the grilles made it to production.View attachment 390773View attachment 390774
We’ve shown the grill attached in previous threads. It looks like this. No grill for the tweeter for less diffraction.
If you saying 3D printed photo, it is just prototype. 3D printed waveguide having shrinkage so the gap is disappeared moulded version. Is the spacing between the tweeter waveguide and the main cabinet a part of manufacturing the materials, or is that just the prototype?
Unfortunately because of the need for OEM crossover the amps are currently stuck with Ncore , not Nilai or Purifi, although I believe Weiss are now offering OEM crossovers but they will be expensive.Unbelievable pace of design and production!
Great work- all the best, Asci!
(Waiting for the active 3-way for me : ultra high quality DAC and amps, please!)
I don't quite understand the reasoning, but if we are stuck with those amps, I guess they are pretty good.Unfortunately because of the need for OEM crossover the amps are currently stuck with Ncore , not Nilai or Purifi, although I believe Weiss are now offering OEM crossovers but they will be expensive.
I think the reasoning is that there are no full-featured plate amps for active speakers (crossover, etc.) from Nilai or Purifi like the Hypex FusionAmp. As least not that I've seen. It seems the performance of the A6B active is nothing less than spectacular regardless.I don't quite understand the reasoning, but if we are stuck with those amps, I guess they are pretty good.
I see, that makes sense. Thanks, JohnnyNG.I think the reasoning is that there are no full-featured plate amps for active speakers (crossover, etc.) from Nilai or Purifi like the Hypex FusionAmp. Maybe not off the shelf, but Hypex sell the DSP modules used in the FusionAmps so manufacturers seem free to combine them with other amp modules on a plate of their own. Is there a specific reason they couldn't be paired with Nilai, nCoreX or Purifi?I think the reasoning is that there are no full-featured plate amps for active speakers (crossover, etc.) from Nilai or Purifi like the Hypex FusionAmp. Probably the same reason we see 80dB SINAD amps in Genelecs: they are simply good enough.Maybe not off the shelf, but Hypex sell the DSP modules used in the FusionAmps so manufacturers seem free to combine them with other amp modules on a plate of their own. As @Purité Audio mentions above, "there doesn’t appear to be any limit to the Ascilab team capabilities". For the A6B active launch, though, I'm sure they wanted a much quicker off-the-shelf solution. Even the Hypex Fusion seems to be much better than you typically find in high-end actives, though.Maybe not off the shelf, but Hypex sell the DSP modules used in the FusionAmps so manufacturers seem free to combine them with other amp modules on a plate of their own.
