My kids use streaming but they actually buy downloads because streaming services cannot be counted on keeping the libraries stable be it music or movies. While I would like to believe young people are buying music and artists can make more money from recordings like old times, I don't see it happening. My kids and all their friends stream music and don't give a thought about other options. If streaming dies it will be because of money issues, not because everyone got sick of it.
I mostly listen to more or less underground leaning electronic music, so anything with generic name gets bunched in the same basket. But yes, especially South American/portuguese/spanish rap or generic metal. Are you coming across that thing where bad (mostly) rappers take their names from prog and metal bands... so the algorithm thinks you were actually watching those rappers and start suggesting other rappers you might like?
I should have added: Having a huge universe of music available by streaming has changed my life. When I was a kid I used to take the bus to the Lincoln Center Music Library to browse and listen to new records on the weekends. This practice expanded my tastes.
Now I do it every night from my armchair sweet spot. What a life.
I'm a big fan of Thievery Corporation. I actually have many of their albums on CD.I use Pandora almost every day with a couple of stations I've set up with lists of artists and then it plays things from around those. I buy songs I find through that or from TV shows or movies thru Apple and add them to our phones. My favorite on Pandora is our Thievery Corporation station. At night we use Spotify's 8-Hour Sleep Music played thru the 5.1 system in the MBR. Very, very relaxing.
Why - Richard Galliano is one of the finest players in the World - a virtuoso. His new Gerhswin album is wonderful, or maybe try the album "If You Love Me" with Gary Burton.Hilarious that Roon just threw me "Drs Gradus ad Parnassum" played on *accordion*. Smashed the skip button.

What is "personal streaming"? Deezer has the unique Flow, it's my personal radio. Just a pity that though good, Deezer's audio quality is not on par with Qobuz (but better than Spotify, at least when I compared them years ago).Imo the next big thing will be personal streaming. It's currently over most people's budgets and technical ability but even today it's possible.
Curve balls is not what you want in a 'radio' feature - you want things with some common thread. I listen to all sorts of music, but i did not care for the THREE Galiiano tracks Roon sent me*, even though I skipped and marked them all. They were supposedly spawned from a Mendelssohn quartet I put on earlier. Why - Richard Galliano is one of the finest players in the World - a virtuoso. I love that Roon throws occasional curve balls - helps broaden the mind.
I wish he'd been at the Ryan Corbett recital I went to in Bristol recently - I had no appreciation of the technical skill and physicality needed to perform on the instrument. Has to be seen to be believed, but that is going rather off topic.*A gentleman is someone who can play the accordion but doesn't - P.G. Wodehouse.
I do the same (extensive library, curated to my absolute favoritea) but I also stream extensively due to convenience.I also have a large collection of albums on a media player, spanning more then 40 years of being into music. I love building a collection of music that I like, it's probably a hobby by itself. Never had a subscription to a streaming service. I do listen to internet radio when doing jobs in and around the house, and when I hear something that sparks my interest I'll take note and check the artist later on.

Roon has an “I don’t like this” button when you skip a track, but it always comes up with something equally vile.
Three tracks seems to indicate a "common thread" though, maybe one you didn't want.Curve balls is not what you want in a 'radio' feature - you want things with some common thread. Generally, Idagio is very good at this. Roon sucks.
