Nothing wrong with Mogami though, just a decent name-brand cable.

I suspect that many or most 'working professionals' who build their own interconnects use either Canare or Mogami cable as both companies make high quality products that are readily available. Both also make decent, no nonsense speaker cable. Canare mic cable has a cost (and possibly a durability) advantage, but its braided shield is so dense and tight that it's tedious to comb out. Mogami's served shield mic cable is much easier to prep.
