From here it looks like you mounted the cable reversed and swapping the phase

Yeah, cables wrong way round as it hangs behind the ear not the front

That's the crux of the matter. The physical geometry is different and will work for some but not for others.

Here's TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero (Blue, incorrectly said I had the RED earlier in the thread) vs 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2

By the way, while doing this I noticed that the R side membrane is tilted in my case, not sure if it matters, guess some quality control issue(?).

Yup. These need a short but wide tip to stay put and seal well for me (azla sednafit large for me)

Good point! I went with matching the R on cable with R on IEM being on the same side/face hoping that was correct. Above you can see both "R"'s, and you cannot see either "L" as they're on the other face/side.

Initial impressions are excellent. Hearing nuances I normally hear on reference headphones.
If you worn them with the cable plugged that way (and I can't imagine how) I wonder what nuances you could even hear given that phase is inverted and they should sound totally wrong.

As long as the phase is inverted on both sides, the sound will stay the same.

It's only if you invert just one side, that the sound quality breaks apart.

Yeah indeed, ok then only the first half of the question remains unsolved :D

@mc.god:

I'll fess up to improperly routing the cables, but surely a forum member like yourself understands polarity, right?

By inverting both sides, I was listening in correct polarity, as stated above.

Your implication that I couldn't have heard nuances because polarity was inverted is unwanted and unwelcome, because it wasn't true. You were spewing nonsense, but presenting it as fact and that you knew better.

Basically an attempt to dis.

Didn't work.

I'll let the mods work their magic here in case anything I said is out of bounds.

I already acknowledged my error and I'm sorry if my comment seemed disrespectful, nonetheless even if polarity was correct i can't see how you could get a proper seal that way to achieve the full potential of the iems. But again, probably my limitation since I don't even understand what nuances means.

... oh there are the little L and R on the cable plugs!
I plugged left and right the wrong way 'round to begin with, checked balance and had to swap 'em.
At least I looked up images for which way to orientate the cables. They bend up and away from the unit, not over it.

Hey not bad at all for a first set of IEMs.
Fit was comfortable (deafult red tips). A little off putting being able to hear my breathing so loudly when the music fades out. Seemed much worse than closed-back headphones.

Passes the midrange test (0.27s "...fooled by a feeling" per Steve Hoffman post.

I feel the upper mid/low treble is unforgiving as Sade's Diamond Life and Donald Fagen's The Nightfly both sound fatiguing. By contrast Steely Dan's Aja and Gaucho both sounded fine. Generally, I don't find the low end too much at all. Modern material with fake bass can be a bit boomy, but Dua Lipa's Houdini (London Sessions) sounded pretty bloomin' great!
Resolution of vocals is fine and is probably the best I've heard so far on Fleetwood Mac's The Chain and Abba's Take a Chance. Very obvious and distinctly different voices which seem to almost melt into the one voice on some setups.

So long as low priced gear like this puts a smile on our faces, I don't think we can be blamed for a bit of retail therapy and buying a new toy to play with. I get strange looks if I start browsing the shelves of Lego in stores :p

One channel being inverted when using speakers causes interference but on IEMs the soundwaves aren't interfering with each other. I guess I could experiment a bit but it's not clear how this special case would be detectable.

Try these sound tests:

I was so satisfied with mine after slapping on some acoustune tips that I didn't bother tip rolling any further until today. But boy do they sound good with moondrop spring tips. Endgame level imho
