$100k speakers Meridian DSP8000 to $

I've heard them awesome drives large rooms with ease , but not worth the msrp . But if @Kamrooz can get together a pair for pocket change its a fantastic hobby project .

Ok folks, bad news is after multiple attempts , the estate sale guy said he spoke with original owner and he confirmed he sold to separate and no way to find them again !
Also I send emails to manufacture they not respond
Options
1. try to find pair of head and rematch the paint really hard and 0 chance
2.order new head !? Not sure how much cost or it’s worth it !
3. Sale as part , sad and only really option

What do you guys think ?

When the person who bought the heads realizes he only has half a speaker, he might try to get rid of them or find the bottoms.

You could put a WTB or WTS on craigslist or FB marketplace trying to find them. Might work!

I'd try to find some audio places that may have spares. Failing that, if all the amplification and DSP is in the lower section, you could try to find out what driver's Meridian used and source some or as near to spec as possible and have the top sections made by someone good at woodwork etc. Rebuilding the tops from scratch would likely be cheap in the scheme of things. I'd try to hunt down exact plans though to create authenticity.

Failing that, while ringing around audio specialists trying to track parts needed also ask what they value the bottom section at in part's or whole. Then if any of the above fails you could likely recoup your money and possibly profit. I'd imagine high end places who service this stuff would still value these highly.

Be honest I thought about that and I posted everywhere and also research for that part as much as possible
This is from the original owner ( I sold head unit to the person have the bottom and looking for head only , and he just pay almost full price for just top part !!!!!

Yes it possible make the cabinet and find the driver but the problem is how they can make without actual size and measurements, so buy top unit make job very simple and I focus on that first but thank you so much again for your time and reply

You could calculate the top volume, possibly even get a 3D scan of one and go from there. If all else fails it could be worth a shot, but finding some originals would be much easier. I think these are probably worth the leg work though.

I was in the Meridian ecosystem for a while and found it was not very open to other technology. You can use these speakers (as reconstructed) as speakers requiring little consideration of their unique features. As usual, the best info for this is at the Hitchhikers website.

It's a powered speaker with its own internal DAC circuits. You can attach a streamer to it via S/PDIF (coax, optical, or USB). You'd need a HDMI-to-S/PDIF adapter to connect an Apple TV.

If your Arcam processor has S/PDIF out, it can connect that way to the Meridian. If your speaker has analog inputs, you can attach to the pre-amp output on your Arcam.

With its missing top cabinets it could be the front left and right speakers in a surround setup. Without the top cabinets it is pretty much useless.

So I posted on eBay for sale, and I found a lot of interest for this special item and three of them from United Kingdom so they asking to ship it over and shipping cost is just about $2000 they agree with that but is hard for me pack it and put on pallet and make is crate !
The Manufacturer answer my questions and they said can provide XE series head and also they said it’s possible find on other dealers for sale but I’m still waiting for confirmation.
those are very beautiful speaker , I’m Not really sure if selling those rear and is a good idea! But still I’m here

Just trying learn more ! So if on normal home theater everything can connect to your processor or Ave and can plug by hdmi or xlr /rca
So on Meridian is not same way ?

Great news. If the tops are available I'd keep them. With the tops the value is even more, although you will likely want to keep hold of them I'd imagine. If you ship overseas, make sure you have them insured, sounds like a right hassle though.

Meridian does but these are not built into the speakers.

It depends on the cost for the new head units. My gloss black 2010 dsp8kSE upgrade have been on usam asking $18k and sitting, and sitting. As to packing, a pallet, some plywood and attentive creativity is how I shipped my revel salon 1's that are about the same size and weight.
