I am going to keep my powder dry for the new D&D , the 8C only took thirteen years I should still be alive, profoundly deaf perhaps but alive.

Well it looks as if the Danley HRE1 ( the speaker formerly known as Hyperion) has changed a little.
Drivers on the front now , not sure it is an improvement though.
I would still like a pair here even though I know it would be highly unlikely that I ever sell a pair and it would definitely end in divorce.
ILE3 too

Keith
I see that HRE1 is about 40k a pair street price.
Not bad given the fact that one can reproduce a thunder with its clarity too.

I echo your sentiment, very curious about the larger D&Ds. Some months ago Martijn told me later this year for release, we shall see! But I do hope they are less costly than the Danleys!

@Purité Audio if you can sell them, more power to you. It's not for me, or even the rich folk I know. Maybe the 8c.

D&D are all about sound quality Ron, they are not rich people’s conversation pieces, plenty of manufacturers do that.

I do agree they are ugly, but in the end as I have a dedicated sound room, no WAF to worry about. For me, priority is performance, looks secondary … of course best if I can get both ;)

LOL … I agree that photo is ugly. And to be clear, was calling the Danleys ugly, not D&D (or Sigberg) which I believe look decent. Not typical HEA jewelry, but good enough. again, looks are secondary for me anyway. You should know that given the looks of the Soundfield “Frankenspeakers” … ugly as heck, but the sound, ah the sound, superb. Of course if I go the Soundfield route, any final system that AJ will design for me will also have some “jewelry” looks. You can have your cake and eat it.

I agree. D&D are obtainable by a much wider range of people than something for $40k.

Maybe you can Frankendanley the two: take the lower part of the ILE3 and put the upper bit of the HRE1 on top of it ;)

Hah! ... Reminds me of the robot maid from "The Jetsons" :D

Well, you can get PA SPL volume levels for much less in a coaxial configuration:

*Off-axis won't be as uniform as the Danley's synergy horn -- judging just from the physical design, I believe -- but it's still quite good.

Danley seriously just needs to up their photo editing skills.

Of course, we know the horns can always get bigger to suit ones needs:

But that's not a high-frequency horn ;)

I'm talking about that tiny horn on the coaxial. That's just no good for pattern control, and it shows in the off-axis measurements.

With class D amplification being so cheap, hearing loss isn't nearly the barrier it once was
