Would a Class A integrated amp put out enough heat to notice in a room?

If I had a Luxman 590AXII, would I notice the heat it puts out in a 12x16 room? Would it be enough to where it would keep the AC running more often? It is in Austin, Texas where it is currently 103F outside.

Maybe about the same as some incandescent bulbs drawing the same wattage.

How many watts does it draw?

330W,
230W (under no signal), 0.4W (at standby)

I am confused on to why it's saids 230 under no signal because to me that sounds like standby.

No signal means powered and ready to play.

Class A pretty much dissipates full power all the time.

I have a pair of Krell monoblocks.

They have stepped bias, the "idle" power increases with larger demand from the signal.

Idling, they pull 100 watts, with several higher levels when playing louder and louder, maxing out well over 1000 watts.

Each.

If I could play that loudly (really can't), it would be like having a couple of toasters running in the room.

I've seen the heat sinks as high as 140F after a bit of somewhat spirited playback.

9 x 12.5 x 16 inches, weigh around 50 pounds each.

Luxman generally makes stuff worth owning. But I do wonder why the power draw changes with output.

For daily use, a pair of JBL LSR 308 actives, that draw 5W each.

I reserve the big boys for when I'm really paying attention.

They'll put on a good show.

So you want to warm it up to 104F outside?

What's the reasoning behind having a standby mode ? It's an integrated amp that should be able support a soft start switch without having to power up the rails fully.

Short answer: Yes absolutely. Further reading for general reference:

My J2 puts out 200W all the time. It does heat my music room slightly. Of course, in winter that's kind of nice.

What's the reasoning behind having a standby mode ?

The output section is unpowered, and maybe all that is on is what is needed for it to respond to the remote (assuming it has one).

My standby is 30W (each), for the record. In my case, the power regulation is on, but the output section is off.

The "rules" changed in the last 20 years. 0.5W common now.

I wish I could remember how much heat a 300 watt bulb would put out.
We have a lizard cage that puts out 250 watts and we don't notice it when we walk by. But for the last couple of months it was putting out 550 watts (lizard was ill), and we noticced it radiating every time we walked by

What size air conditioner do you have? FYI, 1 ton = 3.5 kW, and 330 W represents about 10% of the capacity of a 1 ton air-conditioner.

I suspect 330 W is a tiny amount of your overall cooling load.

I agree. The walls heating from the sunlight makes a much bigger difference than the J2 being on.
