Series-assembly of eight small speakers is quite tedious...

I guess it is Need to call Ingvar some about the price for raw A1 kit. Need to paint them in the same color as the wall.

Yeah... unless you want to wait for something to pop up on the used market... but then you never know when...

Harder than expected to have someone hold them in place for mounting... wiggled on screw heads, I guess. But with added patience they got up.
Do hope we didn't dislodge any cables in doing so, will find out when trying out which cable end goes to which one on the other side of the wall...

Ok... so here's the left hand side in the surround - all but the 7.1 left back surround - can't get a good overview with the mobile phone with that one as well.

Next up - the three Auro heights for the other side...

x4700h seems to have arrived to the central location in Sweden - got mail about that now - so just waiting for the store to get one as well, I rather go pick it up that having it bounced around to my local

Nice to hear the about the progression. Here things go very slowly, plan is to reintroduce the ino cr8 to the subs. Then some front heights. Perhaps i get permission to place a center as well but have to build it first.

Well, I don't think it's going very fast here either, really... I'm just doing bursts of a few minutes now and then when I feel like it. It's how many bursts I get that decides the speed. Next one won't be before the other side of the Formula One free practice #3.

If it's not been stated enough, my front heights aren't in line with the fronts.... they are Carlsson OA-51 put on high shelves on the side walls and will be playing "bounced" off the ceiling. They were placed there for Audyssey DSX format and I won't move them - I think they sound quite well played from there so I expect no issues with that.

Haha.... one should not just look at the pic while writing.... it's of course the RIGHT hand side...

Both sides done and some extra cables at floor level also tucked away now.

x4700h seems to have arrived in Sweden, so it's more a matter of when I can plan a shop visit...

Located the wiring for the front highs... some 9 years or so after it was drawn.... but unfortunately one of the speakers (Carlsson OA51LE) aren't playing the bass driver anymore... something has happened while alone on the shelf for a number of years.... it played last time tested. Pity. I do have two leftovers of the kind I got for the auro-layer, so it's not a showstopper - but they're quite a step down in quality. But I can deal with that later on and that's quite a relief at this point.

Replacing just the driver would be sort of a stupid move too... there are upgrade plans available to get those speakers quite a bit improved, but that would be a full complement of drivers and new filters for that... so not the kind of cash I feel like forking out after the proj and the receiver to be paid off...

Moved the old receiver out of the rack and onto the top of it - in case I want to use it as a 7-channel amp - and labelled some of the cables that I'll keep using the same way ( Front L/R/C to power amps ) and slightly less permanent labeling on the other ones just to keep cable searching to a minimum.

x4700h is about exactly the same size as 2807 so it slotted right into the rack. It's supposed to be about the same weight too, which surprises me - it felt like a few kilos lighter...

Couple of cables I actually forgot that I hadn't reattached and a pair that had come undone, but apart from that - every speaker is up and playing with the new receiver. :)

One little bummer is that I will have to re-measure with the Audyssey-app to be able to use that one - if there was any mention about that, I missed it. 10 channels 8 times is a fraction boring to say the least.

You have some wonderful listening nights ahead of you, enjoy that awesome immersive rig.
There's little better than fireing up a whole new Hi Fi for the first time, unless it's enjoying a new lady.

Thanks.

Next thing is to find out just how bad Atmos sounds when using the 4 ceiling speakers with the measurements/delays set for the Auro heights...

If I do need extra delay, then I need to swap the fivechannel and the old receiver (which I could fiddle with distance delays on).

----------

Re-did the measurements with the phone - lifted the bass curve back up and stopped processing at 100Hz to let the quality of the speakers come through on all but the last assembled ones (which I skipped adding the midrange notch filter internally).

The back side of the rack with the cooling fans needs to go back before I do any length runs.

Hard to get a full shot of this as I can't back farther away, so had to do it from an angle above... Some extra comments before I get asked anyway....

A bit of a shame that the 2807 looks better than the X4700H, isn't it?
