접수부터 의료진 면담, 체온 측정, 코와 입의 검체 채취까지 10분 안에 가능하다.

Not the test result. But everything before that can be done in 10 min.

After test we go home and wait for the results to come

It did shorten the waiting line. The wait in tent method did take longer

PS. 세종시 is not persons name. It is http://www.sejong.go.kr/ yup ‘go.kr’
Reducing the waiting in a clinic around people who are sick enough to show up for testing is hugely important. I'm thinking that it may be better to stay here in Korea and ride it out in my apartment than jump from the pan into the fire.

Thank you. The western media sometimes *misinterprets* the situation. Cheers!
I've fixed my original post.

Same reporter now says:
There are plans to expand drive-thru coronavirus clinics across South Korea, according to Yonhap. Currently there are drive-thru’s in Goyang near Seoul, Sejong, and here’s the pic we got of the drive-thru in Daegu. Whole process takes 10mins. No need to get out of car.

I'm going without any face mask unlike some Asians I see when I am out and about. I'm leaving it up to nature. I survived the very very nasty swine flu of the late 1960's and early 1970's, measles, mumps, many bouts of pertussis and pneumonia and some really nasty flues of which I am supposed to be vaccinated for (cross fingers). If I make it I make it

You can choose whatever you like, but the poor guy infected by you accidentally are gonna think otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I live in HK and I'm OK with not wearing mask IF they're fully aware of the risk and act accordingly, like keep spacing and not going to crowded areas.

the world can worry about the origin of the virus later, much bigger fish to fry at this point than whether it came from a bio lab or a seafood market. Barn door is open. I'm here in South Korea surrounded by the outbreak and I can tell you we don't care about conspiracy theories today. We are more interested in practical survival.

Exactly, live long enough and we'll know.

As I understand it, the purpose of the face mask is to (minimally) protect others around you. Not much good for your personal protection. Unfortunately many think it provides protection for the wearer.

What information? The complete genetic sequence is available https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genbank/sars-cov-2-seqs/ . What information are you talking about? What countermeasures, specifically, are you talking about?

How it was created and how to neutralize it. (if it was created and if they have some sort of vaccine, antidote, drug therapy, etc.).

There were multiple reports that it has genome similarities to HIV/AIDS and that some in China were using HIV drugs to treat it.

Stunning Finding: S-Protein Insertions From HIV

On Jan. 27, 2020, Prashant Pradhan et. al. from the Indian Institute of Technology published a paper entitled “Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag,” which is currently being revised. The corresponding author of this paper, Professor Bishwajit Kundu, is specialized in protein genetic and genetic engineering and has published about 41 papers during the past 17 years on PubMed, including high-impact biomedical journals.

The authors found 4 insertions in the spike glycoprotein (S) which are unique to the 2019-nCoV and are not present in other coronaviruses. “Importantly, amino acid residues in all 4 inserts have identity or similarity to those of HIV-1 gp120 or HIV-1 Gag. Interestingly, despite the inserts being discontinuous on the primary amino acid sequence, 3D-modelling of the 2019-nCoV suggests that they converge to constitute the receptor binding site. The finding of 4 unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV, all of which have identity/similarity to amino acid residues in key structural proteins of HIV-1 is unlikely to be fortuitous in nature.”

Pradhan et al. added, “To our surprise, these sequence insertions were not only absent in S-protein of SARS but were also not observed in any other member of the Coronaviridae family. This is startling as it is quite unlikely for a virus to have acquired such unique insertions naturally in a short duration of time.”

“Unexpectedly, all the insertions got aligned with Human immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV-1). Further analysis revealed that aligned sequences of HIV-1 with 2019-nCoV were derived from surface glycoprotein gp120 (amino acid sequence positions: 404-409, 462-467, 136-150) and from Gag protein (366-384 amino acid). Gag protein of HIV is involved in host membrane binding, packaging of the virus and for the formation of virus-like particles. Gp120 plays crucial role in recognizing the host cell by binding to the primary receptor CD4. This binding induces structural rearrangements in GP120, creating a high affinity binding site for a chemokine co-receptor like CXCR4 and/or CCR5.”

It is well known that CD4 cells are essential to human immunity and are the direct targets of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV. HIV attaches to CD4 cells, enters and infects them. The virus then turns each infected CD4 cell into a factory creating more HIV virus until eventually all CD4 cells are destroyed. People infected with HIV lose their immunity or defense system which is like a country losing the function of its army.

If we take a closer look at the 4 insertions of the S-protein in figure 3 (from Pradhan et. al. 2020 bioRxiv), they are all located on the binding surface of the protein, seemly designed to be able to bind to target cell receptor sites. Natural accidental mutation would be randomly distributed across the whole length of the S-protein. It is highly unlikely that all of these insertions would coincidentally be manifested on the binding site of the S-protein.

The article by Pradhan et. al. is a preprint made available through bioRxiv and has not been peer-reviewed.

bioRxiv reports: “This paper has been withdrawn by its authors. They intend to revise it in response to comments received from the research community on their technical approach and their interpretation of the results. If you have any questions, please contact the corresponding author.”

...

The United States Centers for Disease Control stated: “There is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for 2019-nCoV infection.” But, there are a few case reports of Wuhan 2019-nCoV patients benefiting from empiric treatment with anti-HIV drugs such as lopinavir. More such detailed clinical experience needs to be shared.

"Chinese city gives residents up to $1,400 for reporting novel coronavirus symptoms
The city of Qianjiang, in China's Hubei province, is awarding residents who proactively report symptoms associated with the novel coronavirus.

Any resident who reports symptoms and is confirmed to have the novel coronavirus will be awarded 10,000 yuan — or about $1,426 — according to a Qianjiang government press release.

Meanwhile, patients who come forward and are classified as "suspected cases" will be rewarded 2,000 yuan (or $285). Those that are not immediately confirmed to have the illness upon first diagnosis will be rewarded 1,000 yuan ($142).

The new incentives came into force Thursday."

This source, the Epoch Times, is questionable. There "are multiple reports" is not science or a reference. What, other than Epoch Times are the reports?

Just because your name is David, and it spells as such, it doesn't make you a member of the Beckham family.

and no, as much I hate the HKSAR govt, Epoch Times is not a reliable source.

The Epoch Times didn't write the medical paper, they just reported on it as well as did other news outlets. The source of the information is the following. If you don't agree with the information, discredit the source, don't shoot the messenger who was NOT the author of the paper's content.

"On Jan. 27, 2020, Prashant Pradhan et. al. from the Indian Institute of Technology published a paper entitled “Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag", which is currently being revised. A quick internet search will show many sites that have published this paper.

Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag

...
Conclusions

Our analysis of the spike glycoprotein of 2019-nCoV revealed several interesting findings: First, we identified 4 unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike glycoprotein that are not present in any other coronavirus reported till date. To our surprise, all the 4 inserts in the 2019-nCoV mapped to
short segments of amino acids in the HIV-1 gp120 and Gag among all annotated virus proteins in the NCBI database. This uncanny similarity of novel inserts in the 2019- nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag is unlikely to be fortuitous. Further, 3D modelling suggests that atleast 3 of the unique inserts which are non-contiguous in the primary protein sequence of the 2019-nCoV spike glycoprotein converge to constitute the key components of the receptor binding site. Of note, all the 4 inserts have pI values of around 10 that may facilitate virus-host interactions. Taken together, our findings suggest unconventional evolution of 2019-nCoV that warrants further investigation. Our work highlights novel evolutionary aspects of the 2019-nCoV and has implications on the pathogenesis and diagnosis of this virus.

Messenger takes orders. No one is ordering them to message anything, not to mention they do not have a big brother watching them.

Media Studies was part of my training, if I had to shoot I'll make sure shooting them all over the place. Coz they're "supposed" to be journalists, not pigeons.

Sorry if my tone is bit too heavy, such "fake" news in a 8M city is not helping, it's also devastating. Lack of critical thinking causes public panic and it's really no joke, people act on fear and pure instincts could just be like zombies of another kind.

Again, you failed to address the contents of the original medical paper which I linked to for your convenience (and by your response, appearant avoidance). Either read the paper and address its data and information directly to contribute to the discussion, or continue your irrelevant rant against a single outlet (one of many) that reported it.

I don't do quick internet search, I usually go through at least 5 pages of results on Google in a single search, for 3+ non-cross referencing, original independent analysis. If I can't find it on Google, I'll go for Google Scholar / Google Patents

Basic media training, always read/hear from both sides.

Academic papers get published for many reasons. Rushing and Getting attention on their findings, "Let others review for them" were part of it. Not saying they deliberately do so, but these things just happen.

The original EpochTimes article posted updated its article with that information.

[bioRxiv reports: “This paper has been withdrawn by its authors. They intend to revise it in response to comments received from the research community on their technical approach and their interpretation of the results. If you have any questions, please contact the corresponding author.”

Looks like they are responding to peer reviews.

The EpochTimes article specifically stated it had not been peer reviewed yet and was awaiting peer review. They even updated their article with the preceding. I take that as full disclosure as well as followup on their part.
