I’ve just engaged in a conversation with someone on FaceBook because they’ve said:

“The best solution would be to ditch (headphones) completely, life is much is much more interesting without them anyway, as it is without the devices they are linked to . . .”

I won’t say what my reply was. Instead, I’ll open it to the group. What would your response be?

Depends on the context if a statement like that is worth an answer at all - very likely it isn't.

I'd respond from my own experience in audio, which might instill some bewilderment in a lot of folks

The best solution would be to ditch speakers completely and stay with headphones/iems, life is much is much more interesting without them anyway, as it is without the physical and acoustical requirements they are linked to . . .”

"Can't you link headphones to the device you just typed that message on, then?"

I like a nice bit of hypocrisy. Like Frankie Boyle once said: "If you get offended by any jokes, by the way, feel free to Tweet your outrage on a mobile phone made by a ten year old in China.”

best solution to what???

Context…?

They were just posting their thoughts on headphones. There’s a story on the BBC today saying there are concerns being raised about noice cancelling headphones. The person shared the story, but said that whether the health problems were accurate or not, he’d get rid of all headphones, for the reason given.

That's actually a valid concern, further there's studies showing folks with dementia deteriorate faster when their hearing is compromised. So hearing aids are a must if you can get them the wear them , a struggle ime. ( Savage senior is a fair bit down the road with dementia , been attending to the old bugger, he's also on the spectrum so its been .., interesting) .

Reason for this as explained to me is the lack of auditory stimulation, just background noises engage the brain take them away and the brain suffers.

I just don't go out without my IEMs. There is too much nonsense, toxicity and simply noise pollution in the air so I would become sick otherwise.
