I was fortunate to see a live production of 1000 Airplanes on The Roof by Philip Glass. It had a voice actor expertly miced with a 60xx lavalier and a small musical ensemble of 2 synthesizers, soprano sax, soprano sax / flute, and flute / electronic wind instrument, and a soprano voice. Many of the ensemble microphones were ribbons which contribute a soft warm sound. It passed through a Meyer Sound PA in a giant about 5 second reverb time untreated hard surface room.

It would be 20th Century modern classical music. As modern as it was, a lot of work went into reconstructing the score from handwritten notes from past performances. Most of the recordings you find are without the narrator and the narrator makes the piece.

It was an example of a performance where the experience could not be duplicated in a listening room at home, or even in a multi camera video where the narrator was able to move. around a large space.
