If it does not reduce the volume when switching to high gain, I would be careful with that as 14 dB is quite a lot and you could clip both the L70 and B200 if volume is too high in low gain.
and it was supposed to be so beautiful, and the whole elaborate plan... so either everything on low or everything on high, or only b200 on high?

If you want just one setting, use high gain on the L70 and low gain on the B200. I would use low gain on both until I run out of volume for some recording and then see if high gain improves that but you seem averse to volume settings close to 0 dB.

I will have to change that in my mind. Low/Low has the advantage that 0.0dB will outlast my speakers. High/Low and High/High gain can definitely hurt them at maximum volume.

As I pointed out, the only detriment is really that it has less ability to increase the level of quiet recordings and that -2.5 dB is the safe maximum for 4 Ohm. You can try higher volumes in low gain but if that leads to clipping the B200, you have to consider more powerful amps or speakers with higher sensitivity.

Low/High is pretty close to High/Low as well - 6+22 = 28 dB gain compared to 19.8+11.6 = 31.4 dB gain - so only 2.4 dB lower.

;) I can hear it and see in the table that changing to L70 brings the greatest effect, hence my questions when it clips because that 1.9Vrms scared me

I pay attention in class, +3.4dB. ;) I can hear it and see in the table that changing to L70 brings the greatest effect, hence my questions when it clips because that 1.9Vrms scared me
I missed that. And now I can't even fix it because you quoted it...

Yeah, in high gain, if you set it too high, you can really scare yourself if you are not aware of the volume setting. For maximum scariness, go High/High, for the most peace of mind, go Low/Low.

I removed the quote, you can fix it, thanks for your time

Hello. I just received my new L70 from Audiophonic, freshly shipped from China. I had to wait a month. The interesting thing is that I check the firmware by connecting it to my PC, and it shows 115. If you go to the product page, the latest update listed is 114. What possible explanation could there be behind this? I'm curious.

Would say so. Do you have any change log with the 115 firmware version?

Hey... interested to hear how how like your L70. I'm waiting to see what the new DX5 II offers before pulling the trigger. Either way, the L70 looks like a complete winner as far as specs and features. Congrats!

Well, I've only been listening to the D50 III for a short time with a new DAC, and only through RCA, waiting for balanced cables. My references are the Qudelix and the Sabaj A20h, and I can tell you that in terms of power, I don't think the L70 surpasses the A20h, which costs less than half. It's plenty powerful. The Sabaj only has rear connections and an external power supply.

The L70 is a bit more powerful than the A20h - 917 mW vs. 787 mW at 300 Ohm and 6.95 W vs. 4.70 W at 32 Ohm. At 300 Ohm, that is 10*log10(918/787) = 0.669 dB more power and at 32 Ohm, it is 10*log10(6.95/4.70) = 1.699 dB more power.

And the A20h is very prone to RFI. Whether it's audible or not is another matter, though.

I just got this a few weeks ago and it's legit the best IEM amp i've ever tried. Authoritative sound and zero noise. I also really like the features and the volume sweep on low gain is perfect. I couldn't recommend it more.

I've had the L70 for about a month now, using at as a preamp in stereo system with double subs. It's fine, but the volume control isn't nearly as smooth as in A70pro for example, even though I'd thought they'd be similar. It also has a minimal buzz in the right channel. It is connected to Audiophonics mpa-s250nc stereo power amp via xlr. Buzzing can only be heard close to the tweeter (~10cm) and the left channel is totally, absolutely silent with exception of the most faintest hiss coming from the power amp. Buzzing disappears when I shut down the L70. I'm thinking should I send it back.

The buzz isn't coming from the amp trust me. You have a ground loop or similar.

I was doubting it as well but ground lift doesn't help, L70 has the switch to eliminate it on the back. The buzz changes the channel when I change the cables from left to right and vice versa. It's also present when I disconnect the dac (E30II Lite). It disappears when I shut down the L70 but leave the power amp on. Hard to believe the reason would be anywhere else than in the L70. All the equipment are connected to the same power strip.
