Suggestions to replace or upgrade my Laptop/Mac running Jriver and external DACs.

What is the purpose of the Wiim Pro? Given the presence of a Mac/PC and a DAC, what does it add? Not disputing, just asking, since I never had one.

WiFi multiroom simplicity.

Ah I see, thanks. I never got the attraction of multi-room, but it seems like a widely advertised feature in a lot of gear, so someone must like/need it.

Yes and should have added: for those who do want multiroom it is much less expensive than Bluesound or Sonos. Also freedom from the computer with a single dashboard on a phone or tablet for streaming, NAS music files and internet radio.

Wouldn’t you get that with just a computer as well? I know I do.

My listening chair experience is like this:
- iPhone or iPad with remote app for either Audirvana or Roon (I haven’t paid for Roon in many months, so mostly Audirvana for me), and/or:
- iPad with remote desktop app (Jump) putting the Mac desktop into my hands

Backend:
- Mac mini without keyboard, mouse or monitor, running Audirvana, iTunes, Radio Paradise, TotalMix FX, DigiCheck NG, Dirac Live Processor and whatever else I need
- DigiFace USB connected to Mac via USB, stereo DACs hanging off it (S/PDIF) doing stereo and subwoofer channels (previously just a stereo DAC connected to the Mac)
- Local and NAS files, streaming, Internet radio, Youtube.

Late reply:
Dad likes Jazz, mom Classical, Older child College radio, younger Contemporary all play at once, in four locations, with four small boxes ($80-150 ea), controlled by phones/tablets set up with one app and GUI, curated and updated automatically by WiiM. Turnkey, no computer, just music from internet or NAS over wifi supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution.
