Stop YouTube ads once and for all

I'm reading your youtube fanboy posts and I wonder what urges you to partecipate on a thread called "Stop YouTube ads once and for all". I mean, if you are happy with your premium account you shouldn't be here, just enjoy your streaming
It's simple; the thread is about ways of preventing content providers from getting paid for uploading content. Doodski is pointing out this is wrong, and whether or not you agree with him it's a valid argument. If preventing ads was 100% successful then some content providers might choose to upload elsewhere, or Google would be more likely to introduce a mechanism where there is no "free with ads" tier. btw: "fanboy" is the sort of thing children and idiots say in place of a mature argument and I'm sure you're neither of those things, so consider not resorting to that here.

I avoid ads as much as possible by not using those services funded by ads, and only using what I pay for. I accept it's increasingly difficult, given that even paid for services run ads, even if only for their other activities, but at least I don't get gurning idiots trying to sell me stuff whilst I'm looking for information.

This thread is about how to protect yourself from youtube spam. I find it bizarre that a youtube fanboy with a premium account would want to come here and read these tips: what's the point?
Could we please avoid personal insults? Everyone should be able to share their opinions without facing ad hominem comments. It feels a bit immature and is not appropriate.

Is Youtube fanboy a personal insult? Okay, so let's say "Youtube enthusiast".
I keep wondering why he's here

Fanboy. You obviously are a fanboy of adblockers and not paying for a paid for content service loaded with massive amounts of content. Obtaining unpaid for product and content because of a twisted mindset and deranged belief system is just that.

Yes, I’m definitely an Adblock fanboy and maybe you didn't notice: this whole thread is a celebration of YouTube adblock methods

Why have a donation payment system for adblockers when one can simply pay for the product anyway and truly go ad-free? Why do you twists things around and justify this unpaid for product?

Let me fix that for you.

Maybe I got your point: you are a YouTube Minister of Worship
Glory to you, YouTube Pastor! Bring us the Holy Word of Google, we must repent of our sins
Now you are off the deep end. Let me guess... 14 years old? 21 years old?

Spam by definition is unsolicited communication. By choosing to go to the YouTube site you are soliciting information from them. If you are fond of using terms like spam and fanboy you should learn what they actually mean.

I’ve tried the occasional blocker. Certainly nothing seems to work on my phone.

So I’ve just given in. Ads on YouTube, it is….

Like on desktop, visiting youtube via Firefox with uBlock Origin extension seems ok.
Also apps like revanced/newpipe should work (no first hand experience though, but colleagues swear by them).

How do you install ublock on iOS FF?

Duck Duck Go browser reliably blocks ads on mobile. On my S23 for the moment, anyway.

Same goes for the Chromium-based "Brave" browser -- but I'd like to return to Firefox, so thanks for the info.

I have tried that, and also tried YouTube through other browsers on my iPhone.

The problem is, I find that the user interface and experience on the YouTube app on my iPhone to be vastly superior. It’s just organized much better, all my playlists and saved videos are organized much better, I’m not squinting to read text and comments, Etc.

So I live with the ads.

Duckduck go skips all YT ads on my Windows Machine, Brave (on my LG G8) blocked all YT ads on my c
Phone uuntil approxilately two weeks ago. Random ads now play in Brave, but are short in duration (5-10 secs) before they can be skipped.

Guess I'll try something else...

BTW, some of these ads are reprehensible, preying on victims with blatantly obvious appeals to emotion, with fear being #1. It's disgustung how these all so clearly seek to exploit peoples emotional vulnerabilities only to peddle absolute garbage, physical or otherwise.

Unwashed Ewes are the usual perpetrators.

Long live the adblockers!!
