Review and Measurements of New Topping D50s DAC

Ok, sometimes when you dont have to add something with value is better not to say anything
He's just saying that it will basically sound the same as any other decent DAC... People that hear differences typically aren't using any listening controls so hear what they expect to... For the most part...

The OPA are not replaceable in any case. They are soldered.

Just because they are soldered you can't replace? This is so wrong.

I will correct that one: "You can replace if you have the skills." (my case).

But for now, I'll just change the LME one.

Edit: I'm already looking into OPA2209 or OPA2189 to change the OPA1612. They are poor in comparison.
Edit2: Pulled the leg for the OPA2209.

If I were really crazy, or have money to burn (or both), I would go for D90, but then, you need to spend a lot more.

Btw, just ordened my Atom puppy.

Nice Gradius and thanks for the inspiration!

Just tried the Muse 8920D and pretty happy with the improvements here. Also purchased OPA1612 and LM6172, but haven't tried yet. (opa1612 requires soldering onto soic to dip, which I purchased also).

Someone on AK also recommended OPA1642.

What a load of crap. This is turning into some DiyAudio thread.

It's not like you can properly identify changes if any, by swapping in and out and listening again. Your auditory memory isn't that good ... no one's is.

Why would the op-amps you swap in be any better than what the designer decided to go with  you guys engineers? Did you properly look at and compare datasheets at all?

I've read listeria (which causes meningitis). Maybe it has something to do with hearing those differences? ;-)

P.S. If you hear differences I can only envy you. I'm pretty deaf myself...

1 strike, 2 strikes, 3 strikes....
Measurements? I have tested 49710HAs before. No measured difference was found comparing to LM4562 in the audio band. Let alone the extremely unscientific listening test.
If you changed the opamp and liked it, that's good. But if you make these unrealistic claims, it's a problem. This is audioscienceforum, not diyaudio or gearslutz.

LM4562 is 100% the same rebranded/renamed to LME49720 (NOT 49710).
Like I said. They are close enough to have no measurable difference in audio band. Difference is way lower than your hearing threshold. Of course I know 49720 is the one that's corresponding to 4562.
More over hearing 18khz is nothing to write home about. And hearing sub 10hz is a joke.

@anotherAlexNYC I was thinking of what to use and decided on my Sony charger (EP800). Looks like this. USB on the other side.

I'm not sure if they are classified as linear or what's inside them.

Power gets cleaned up inside D50(s) anyway. So that would work fine, too.
