Since these two speakers are so close in performance with most folks agreeing that f226be is slightly better than f208, I am trying to decide between these two. The deciding factor for me is which speakers disappears or is more capable of disappearing. These will be used only for music in a 2 channel(or 2.1) setup in my 22x13 living room.

Directivity and by extension, driver/waveguide/baffle size and shape play a part for sure, but not the only part. I feel a speaker’s ability to disappear greatly depends upon the room. If you want the speakers to disappear, you don’t want it to sound like the sound is coming from the speaker but instead spread about the front sound stage and extending to the side walls for extra width. Absorption and diffusion panels will be your friend.

The F226Be with the narrower profile will most likely disappear more - if that’s even a valid term.

The better drivers including the beryllium tweeter make the F226Be more than a little better depending on one’s perspective. All the little improvements make it clearly better. The F208 had a great design (that’s been carried out by the Be) but the driver materials seem to be a slight downgrade from it’s predecessor since they targeted a lower price point.
