They are active, PSI destined their own Class G amplifiers,
My first introduction to Class G was in my Carver receiver circa 1982! It was very sensitive to line frequency noise, picking up the heater element in our stove cycling on and off
. Suffice it to say, could not listen to music while my wife was cooking.
Class G switches the power supply rail voltage and as a result, highly increases amplifier efficiency since much less heat is generated at lower wattages. The drawback is that just like class D, you now have switching noise to filter. So their advertising blurb of all goodness and no drawback is not correct.
