Products you'd like, that don't exist

How about a 15.1 channel surround sound processor with XLR outputs where the cost is that of 15.1 channel AVR minus the cost of 15 channels of amplification.

They'd be paying you to take it away!

I know well that IEC 60268-17 ballistic-behavior-compatible large-glass-face needle-type VU/PK meters are just "eye candy" for me (for us?), but I have my personal nostalgia and preference for them; this is why I have done my DIY on 12-VU-Meter Array (ref. here).

And, I also know that @amirm and many of my ASR colleagues/friends have similar nostalgia and preference on needle-type VU/PK meter(s).:D

Along with this perspective, I have proposed in my post here my dream vertically and horizontally connectable stereo VU/PK meter unit with multiple input capabilities (ref. here).

One moment, please...

Pretty sure I didn't write in German?!

Sadly the IOTAVX AVX17 lacks HDMI 2.1 and therefore 4k 120Hz which you get with current AVRs.

Also the cost is still more than an AVR-A1H minus 15 Hypex NCx500 modules!

I'd love to see one measured here though.

A DAC, with built in PEQ and room correction that has an input for a measuring microphone and a semi automated process, similar to IK Multimedia ARC Studio
PS
And the WiiM Ultra of course

A discrete wireless 5.1+ Surround system using high quality/powered speakers (No soundbars please).

But we can connect audio gear together from all kinds of brands and it works
Every year the HDMI specifications change, every year they offer you something more, every year the previous one is old.
If these are the standards I prefer a proprietary solution. :)

Good afternoon

P.S. My projector can play Dolby Vision but can't play HDR10+ (just another example of the impossibility of having a common standard...).

I'd forgotten about that one. Excellent performance too: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/okto-dac8-stereo-dac-review.14705/

Very nice, but quite expensive. It also seems to have an inbuilt PC, but no USB audio in - and a whole bunch of analogue inputs I wouldn't need.

I certainly could not use the expense.
But if it wasn't expensive (AND HAD A USB IN), I certainly could use all the analog inputs (of course, if it just had a single line level analog in, I would just run my Apt Holman Pre Amp into it).
No need for all of them. A single line level one would be just fine.

Have a deep pockets like Apple buy Denon/Marantz. Then build on their R&D to finally do consumer level room correction right and combine the ATV with all the normal AVR functionality into an easy to use AVP. Leave the amps and the speakers to the end user.
I'm going to move my house?
CASH in hand? Any possibility of moving to a place further from the street?
I'm thinking about an option a bit cheaper than moving the house further from the street. Besides that I live in a city with a grid layout. So if we drag the house further from the street on the west side, it's just that much closer to the street on the east side. And no change from the even bigger street to the south. The issue is urban noise, not my dwelling.

Joined ASR just in case this thread really does get read by industry pros. (Hello, ASR people! Long time lurker.)

My dream would be my Anthem AVM 70 that only bothered with the sound portion of HDMI.

I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray player with the "sound only" HDMI output, and I use an HDFury Vrroom with my Roku so that I can also have a "sound only" HDMI output from my Roku.

In this way, I feed HDMI video straight to my TV from my Blu-Ray player and my Roku; only HDMI sound goes to my AVR.

The AVR therefore does not need to be a video switch, and it doesn't need all of that video switching hardware/software/complexity. It doesn't even need an eARC HDMI port. eARC has only been a source of instability for me (and which requires me to have CEC enabled, which also causes instability).

I know I'm dreaming, but I may as well make my dream known. :)
