Hy,

I'm new to the headphone game (some experience with speakers) and I bought a Sennheiser HD 58xx jubilee to start it off. Now I'm looking for something to power it on the go and I came across the Pro-Ject DAC Box e mobile. Now I have some Pro-ject gear and I think it's a good brand and I was thinking of picking up this dac. What I like about it is that it works with both Windows and IOS, it has USB type C and it looks good in general. What I'm unsure about is if it will deliver enough power. It's rated for 32 ohms and the 58xx's are rated around 150 ohms. As I said before, I'm new to this and it could be that this isn't a problem at all. That's why I came here for help and to check if anybody has any experience with it. If this would be a bad choice than what would you recommend (I'm from th EU and importing from th US is very expensive). Thanks in advance for any help.

PS: I'm sorry if some things are unclear or my grammar/spelling is incorrect as English isn't my first language.

Welcome to ASR. Glad to have you here :D

The output power of the Pro-ject E mobile per their spec is only 27 mW @ 32 ohms. It is no better than the Apple USB-3 dongle. My guess of its max output voltage is ~1 Vrms, which will give only ~7 mW at 150 ohm.

The HIDIZS S8 (reviewed here) can output 2 Vrms and should give you 4X power and 6 dB higher max SPL.

Thx for the explanation, already looked into the hidzs S8, but can't find it anywhere in the EU and importing really isn't an option.
