Primary as in most frequently used. Both business and pleasure. If your chain involves many interconnects (like handheld --> wlan --> lan --> dac), pick the one that's closest to the source. Internet sourcers, like streamers, are for after the streaming box, no phone lines or wlan before it. "One-box" means that there are no interconnects between boxes, just internal connects and analog out.

Looking at this forum I predict USB is a clear winner. Business users might disagree. But it's 2020 and life is full of surprises!

HDMI from my Oppo used the most, followed by SPDIF optical from my SONOS Connect. Which connects wirelessly to my router, which is then wired via Ethernet to my NAS for music storage. I have no idea how to vote. :)

Home, no digital interconnects, one box.

2 systems are KEF LS50W and NAD C338→Zu Omen Dirty Weekends. I primarily stream (Spotify) directly to them.

Work is USB→Schitt Modi →Vali→AT ATH-M50x.

I consider work a secondary system as are my preference for headphones, but necessary at work. So I voted one box. The KEFs are about as one box as you can get and I love that about them.

Just USB to my OPPO Sonica DAC. Had to go through a couple brands though because I had dropout issues from my PC while playing DSD files. Still not using anything special though.

Well you've got complex system for sure! Just pick the one that you feel is the most important.

I added HDMI to options.

HDMI from Roku box or ARC from Tv in app.
Come on, music and movies are streaming from Internet in the XXI century.
For sure a high bandwidth Internet connection is mandatory.
HDMI is also coming from the BR reader.
