Hi all,

There is a similar post

However, I do not have a desktop. I have a laptop. Any idea what equipment and software (RWE?) I would need to get to get a spectrogram and FR measured?
I understand the ADC is required?

Many thanks
Alex

A laptop is fine. You can run REW on a laptop or PC.

You need an ADC to convert the analogue signal from the phono stage to bits that your computer can analyse. Many people like the E1DA Cosmos for this sort of thing.

Or you could adopt a different approach - don't buy an ADC, buy a QuantAsylum 403 instead.

I have the RCA out connection only on the phono stage. Do I need RCA-XLR cable or E1DA Cosmos is fine connecting the RCAs?
QuantAsylum 403 - interesting, but it has a BNC connection? How do I connect the phono stage to it?

Sorry I am trying to put everything together.

I have just checked your link and I can see that the RCA to BNC adapters are needed to connect the phono stage to QuatAsylum.

No matter what test approach you use, you will need test cables. If you use the ADC approach, and you are testing something with a balanced output on XLRs you can use some XLR cables, otherwise you'll need test cables. But if you are serious about it testing, you will get test leads anyway.

When you say test cables, what cables do you mean? Like RCA to XLR?

I already explained. Most ADCs for testing things are balanced inputs, sometimes on TRS jacks, mostly XLR. If you are testing something that has a type "a" connector, you will need something that goes from that device to your test ADC or QuantAsylum. In your case, one end will need to be RCA.

Why are trying to test phono stages? May I suggest that you seem to need to do quite a bit more learning of the basics before you do testing.

The problem is that there are many suggestions I found and I am not sure which is is correct.
Adapters will influence the test, right ?I
I am not a sound engineer so yes I have to catch up on some basic staff
