New Topping L70 is just insane.

Just got it yesterday. It seems crystal clear to me.

I've had it on most of the day. Mainly using it as a preamp with only a couple of hours has a HPA. No issues with sound but man does this thing get and stay warm. Not hot. But its 98f right now. The a07 is at 88f. Average room temp has been 75-78f.

L70 is basically the old a90 with different chasis, and vol control, that's all

Have had mine for about a week 1/2 and I am very much enjoying it. No sound issues at all, love the display. No complaints over here

I got one, the sound is no good tbh, lack of punch, like no dynamics, smsl is more punchy and measuring not bad
measurement won't tell nothing unless you actually hear the sound...

And you won't actually hear the sound unless you do level matched, double blind comparison...
Correct but if done by the dac's VC one of the two will suffer some SINAD fall due to attenuation, that if their voltage capabilities vary.

Which is highly unlikely to drag one of the DACs down into audible noise territory, therefore the result will stay the same: no audible difference.

Doesn't that (the audible difference) depends of the levels too thought?
I understand that in the 100+ SINAD area that is true but with musical content (usually at -12db) and further attenuation to suit the desired levels SINAD can fall rapidly to the audible area.

Example (my old interface):

(don't mind the -3db reduced level,it's output it's too hot for it's input,I have to make some nice voltage dividers for good use)

And that's it's SINAD vs level measurement, well down to 90's at only -20db attenuation (thus in audible range).

I know that such attenuation will never occur in level matching (only if bal vs unbal maybe and even that will be -3db) but is still there.

Only one question, I dont understand why in 16ohm is so "bad" ?
coz the contact is oxidized, the problem disappeared after the reviewer polished that I believe. According to him, L70 is just d90 with step volume control(cheater)

Hi guys,i have ordered an E70 dac and now i’m stuck choosing between an A90D or a L70.
I’m using Audeze lcd-x headphone, what would you guys would suggest?
A90D is 200$ more than L70 but price is not a problem if i pay for more quality.

Thanks in advance!

Well, yeah but I feel @808lab wants good quality and is willing to go the extra mile into diminishing returns (which isn't a bad thing if you want to pay for it). Question is.... is it worth the extra 200?

@808lab both are ridiculously overkill for the LCD-X:

You could drive it to 110dB SPL with the Apple dongle.
If that were enough a 76$ amp for a 1300$ headphone the hifi world doesn’t have to exist, this post doesn’t have to exist and we’re all stupid.
I have simplified as much as possible but what I mean I think is clear

If that exact amp (with no change to it) cost $500 instead of $76, and someone recommended it to you. Then it would be fine?

I explicitly said that I simplified the speech, but i give up.
If people want to understand it’s easy

If you really want one of the 2 mentioned, L70 is cheaper and there will be no difference in sound. The point is, you can buy something even cheaper than the L70 and still have the same sound. There are amplifiers at $100 that performs better than most of the amps at $5000+.
