Movie Soundtracks We Enjoy

Movie soundtracks are one of my favorite genre (?) of music. Love the nice dynamics and moody tone of many. So I thought we have a dedicated thread for it here.

Right now enjoying the Soundtrack to movie I Origin (wonderful unique movie) by Will Bates and Phil Mossman:

Hi! I like movie soundtracks too, my favourite is Twin Peaks OST (the series) and the "Fire Walk with me" album.
Other one is the "Pulp Fiction OST" and not 1:1 this category "The Wall" from Pink Floyd.
This last one I enjoy in every versions from the original film to the 1990 live in Berlin or the 2010-2013 album tour version.
Best regards.

In one of Les Baxter's funkiest moments, western biker movie Hell's Belles from 1969.

The Johannsson soundtrack for “Arrival” is super awesome, plus an aural treat for a full-range system.

Re-Enjoying James Horner's "Sneakers" from 1992.
La-La Land Records released an expanded version last year (LLLCD1629).
Even though I heard the original release many, many times, the expanded version is worth every cent, using many cues and takes
that were used in the movie but not on CD.
Here is a good review:

In our list of favorites, Williams' score for Memoirs of a Geisha ranks just behind his score for Schindler's List, barely trailed by Gabriel Yared's score for Possession (2002). My wife and I have a game, trying to identify on whose shoulders a particular film composer is standing. If you want to be scandalized fire up the score for "Kings Row" (Korngold), but don't be too shocked. Members of the scoring community has been openly poaching from each other and from the classics from the very beginning, and for good reasons. (Long discussion)

Our local classical music station has a show The Score by Edmund Stone. He discusses soundtracks and plays excerpts. It is listenable and a good source to then look up the whole score. The show is archived back to 2020 on the radio station website. - https://www.thescore.org/playlists/

1961 West Side Story soundtrack album.

Dear kindly Sergeant Krupke
You gotta understand
It's just our bringin' up-ke
That gets us out of hand
Our mothers all are junkies
Our fathers all are drunks
Golly Moses, naturally we're punks :p

I found myself listening to an old favourite of mine yesterday evening that fits perfectly in this thread. I don’t think it has been mentioned before either.
Alain Goraguer’s wonderful soundtrack for the French psychedelic cartoon ‘La Planete Sauvage’.

I am also quite fond of the soundtracks Florian Fricke/Popol Vuh made for Werner Hertzog’s movies. Very unique sounding music for some very unique filmmaking.

Another fairly obscure one that I really dig the vibes of. Karl Heinz Schäfer’s Les Gants Blancs Du Diable.

I like good movies soundtracks as it's usually a collection of different artists. Some times the movie is meh, but the soundtrack is great. A good example of that is the 96 adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. I didn't love the movie, but left knowing I had to get the soundtrack, which has some great tunes on it from various artists. Find it on your streamer service and give it a listen:

Stina Nordenstam - "Little Star"

One of my fav film soundtracks, Natural Born Killers, produced by Trent Reznor, from Nine Inch Nails.

"Pinta, Nina, Santa Maria" from "1492 Conquest of Paradise" by the late Vangelis, meticulous cover by State Azure...

A scene from Chinese Drama, The Double.
(Don't watch if you intend to watch the series coz it might contain spoiler, or just listen to the music without watching the scene.)
