Marantz SACD 30n Measurements (SACD Player, DAC & Streamer)

You quoted me; was your reply directed at me?
Not specifically you:
It would be directed to people who think that other people are racist for buying or not buying certain products from certain places.
I can honestly say that I don't care where something came from: I care about whether it does what it is supposed to do, how well it does what it is supposed to do & how long it will retain it's ability to do what it is supposed to do.
Simple ideas but sometimes difficult implementations of them.

On various forums I have called B.S. when people say things like "All Chinese hifi is junk." I do thins by pointing out that I have some Chinese-made gear that works well and has been reliable over a long time.

I also point out the fallacy of the notion that "More expensive = better quality" or conversely that lower-cost gear cannot be any good. These are two sides of same incorrect coin, so to speak.

Hi ! I have a question, this player upsample to DSD all digital inputs, but all the digital outputs are being downsampled to some PCM or similar or it remains in DSD? The Shanling player accept DSD but downsample everything to 24/88

From the Marantz SACD 30n user manual :

'NOTE :
  • Digital audio output stops during playback of the DSD signals and linear PCM signals with a sampling frequency of 352.8/384 kHz using this unit's USB-DAC.
  • Digital audio output stops during playback of the DSD files via USB and networks.
  • Digital audio output stops during playback of the HD layer of Super Audio CDs and DSD files.'

So this means one has to use the RCA outs to use the MMM DSD upsampling?

I’m interested In this unit. I saw it recently in a weekend sale for under 2100 euro (new) and it seems to be roon certified now

Are both outputs (fixed and Variable) active at the same time and would setting the Variable one to 100% Volume result in the same performance as the fixed one ?

Would be nice to use a Amplifier and a Headphone amp with it :-/
I’m considering getting a 30n

As a recent owner of the Marantz SACD 30n, I have read this review with great interest.
I'm happy with the excellent test results, which just confirm my listening experience.

Marantz and Denon have made a great effort in the past year to update and improve their HEOS firmware.

Among the added features :

- Roon Ready
- Tidal Connect
- Qobuz Connect

So, they did as promised, but it took them some years before implementation.
Now, the SACD 30n is even better, with more features then ever.

I'm a happy user.

Thanks for your feedback. And glad to know they finally updated it ! :)

Just FYI...another nice feature of this disc spinner is it will play the Reference Recordings HRX (DVD-R) discs, 24/176.4 WAV files. I bought a bunch of these when they were being blown out (Elusive Disc I think) for $5 each. Already had a few before that and played them on an Oppo I had that died. The only disc format I have that the Sony UBP-X800M2 will not play.
