I just got this piece a couple months ago and my installer finally got around to configuring it. It sounds great and works pretty flawlessly except for one major thing: The two HDMI outputs.

I have both a 4k sony TV and a JVC DLP-7 projector in my theater. I use the tv for gaming mostly and it is completely hidden when the screen comes down. So I only use one or the other. My remote is programmed for two scenes, one that uses the Sony TV only, and one that uses the JVC projector only. In Each scene I explicitly select which HDMI is active, I do not use the "Auto" setting. I am not using zone 2 Hdmi at all. I have e-arc disabled in the receiver and the TV as much as possible. When both of these devices are plugged into the Marantz and I try to run my projector only, my projector image blinks off every 30 seconds or so, for a few seconds, then comes back on. Even when the Sony TV is powered off. The projector however works fine when I physically unplug the TV, from either end.

I switched the HDMI connectors, plugging the JVC into the e-Arc capable HDMI connector (though the JVC has no e-Arc functionality). It made no difference. As long as the sony tv is plugged in to the other HDMI connector, the JVC picture blinks. If I unplug the TV (which is powered off anyway!) everything is rock solid on the projector.

The more I ponder this, the more I believe this has got to be a bug inside the Marantz. Marantz support is exceedingly poor and no help on this even when my installer calls in. Anyone smarter than me have any thoughts, or pray tell, a solution to this issue? It's really messing with my vision for my theater which I spend 6 months building from scratch!

Is this the only the only AVR you've used with this current setup? Just wondering if this has worked properly before with different equipment. Also how long is the HDMI run from the projector to the AVR? Did your installer use an active cable? I would often suspect too long of an HDMI cable for this type of issue with a projector, although the fact that it's only happening when another device is connected is odd and might point more toward the AVR being the culprit.

You could also try asking on a JVC owners forum over on AVS forums. And you might also find help using a HDfury device.

I had a Denon 4800 and then a cinema 40 and cinema 30. They all blinked like that when set to auto. I had a JVC 590 projector and an LG A2 OLED. I had to change the hdmi source manually to what I was using or would sit there and blink. Maybe it’s a JVC problem not sure.
