Mac Mini vs. Roon Nucleus One as roon server?

Hi All,

I need a dedicated Roon server and considering one of these two. The price is the same essentially. I am on an all Mac ecosystem and thus would be comfortable with the mac mini. Would there be any advantage in the Nucleus One over a mac mini dedicated to being a Roon server?

The nucleus one will probably be a bit weak if you start DSD upsampling , convolution filters, multiroom streaming.

I run a M1 MacBook as my roon server for some time now and no issues at all.
A new Mac mini with M2/M4 (shouldn’t be that long) with 16gb of ram should be a awesome roon machine.

But if you plan to use HQPlayer for DSD upsampling you will probably need the pro or max to use the better filters.

I have my audio files on a thunderbolt drive with nvme SSD and hardwired with 2,5gbps Ethernet.
