I'm sittin' here tonight listening to studio recordings by Carole King -- and, for whatever reason, it reminded me of a pretty darned good live album by someone else entirely.

Ms Roberta Joan "Joni" Mitchell's Miles of Aisles.

Great, great album. I saw her twice on this tour. Joni has always had a very special place in my heart.

Checkout also The Brussels Affair from their 1973 European tour. This is the essence of the Stones from that era for me. And despite being a semi-bootleg, the sound quality is quite good.

Trumpeter and flugelhorn veteran Clark Terry's 16 member good fun jazz band is superbly captured in his Holland (1979) concert. Possibly Clark Terry (born 1920) is little known to you; but was not to those he influenced like jazz trumpeters Miles Davis, Art Farmer and Wynton Marsalis. He swung his horn in Count Basie's, Duke Ellington's, Quincey Jones' and much earlier Charlie Barnet's bands.

My friend and I decided to curate all the official Grateful Dead live recordings. There are 349 separate sub folders which are in performance date order. Choosing just one would be difficult. I'll try to. Europe 72 the Complete Recordings comes to mind. My favorite show I saw in 1979 came out as part of the Road Trips series. I've been a deadhead since 1971 (I recorded it!).

archive.org has a massive compendium of live grateful dead performances in their "live music archive" which are not record releases. 1st screen shot below's left hand menu says more under a vertical list of years and 2nd screen shot is what clicking on more brings up going back additionally listing years to 1965.

Screen shots below 1st one is how app's heading looks on Apple's app store and 2nd is how once open in app the options for deadheads to select appear. Then selecting a specific performance from within the Relisten app will play it for you and often provide a choice among recordings made for that very same live performance.

I have another drive that has every show that has circulated from every year and picked out the best sounding ones. It was a massive task. I believe its a hard drive that many a deadhead would love to have.

I neglected to mention this album in my earlier post. I didn't know much about this band until I saw them as the opening act for Blue Öyster Cult in August of 1978. I bought this album on vinyl as soon as it was released and still own it today.

One of my favorites of my youth, also own the vinyl (German pressing). Haven't listened to it for years, thanks for reminding me.

Winterland 10/18/74... RFK 6/10/73.

the RFK show is an official release as well part of box set. 10-18-74 is part of the GD Movie cd set. Both box sets are very well done and worth the price.
