Despite some rough spots, my last poll had a good response and produced useful insights on the ASR membership. It was noted that I left out IEM and headphone listening and so am including in this round.

Am going to start a little differently this time and allow comments on the choices for the first few days or so. Hopefully do not need a poll to do a poll! ;) So, if you are worried that the choices might change, please hold off voting until mid-week. In any case, you will be able to update your choice(s) up until the poll closes (in about a week).

Another difference that I am planning is this poll is going to allow more than one choice. For example, I mainly listen to my smart speakers or to speakers that are more than 2m away. I own headphones but rarely listen to them so am not going to choose them and do not get out enough to hear live music to choose it either.

Thanks for your consideration and let the voting commence!

Thanks,

Rick

9 feet or so from each (tower) speaker. I do use headphones sometimes, but generally for a sanity check on speaker voicing.

Speakers with 4 meters distance.

Speakers in Near Field Listening mode

Headphones, over-ear and IEMs.

Near field monitors or headphones at my desk.
Smart speakers around the house, garage and garden.
IEMs during my commute or at work (or sometimes in bed).
I rarely get the chance to sit in front of my 'main system' and listen to music, it's mainly used for TV and movies. I'm planning to convert half the garage into an office/listening room one day...

I'm 50/50 near speakers and iem/headpones.
Is multiple voting allowed , will it divide?

You can choose more than one option.

The percentage is #votes for the selection divided by the total number of voters times 100.

About 90% headphone use these days until I get my main room sorted out

Can't use full speakers (location and family)

Over ear headphones for proper listening

IEM for outdoors and at my (home) office desk (goes away each night so no scope for desktop electronics or over ear phones).

Other - Car (phone feeding dongle to car stereo aux)

I used to be exclusively headphones, but over the last year or so I've switched to mostly speakers.

KEF R3 on a large desk at just under a meter.

Main system I use now is my nearfield system since it provides the same nice tonality and spatial effects as headphones and IEMs on the Harman target, but more natural imaging, not to mention the physical aspect of tactile bass.

Next in line would be IEMs as they are compact and portable...

Finally, followed by headphones since they're usually something I use at night.

I ticked other, as I tend to listen when practicing/playing guitar, and once in a while I actually approach what might be called music :)

I chose “near to front speakers” - basically my office system which is Tannoy mains / Klipsch sub. All are active with the front end being a Schiit Magnius / Modius stack.

Due to apartment living, most of my listening is still done via headphones.
If not, nearfield at roughly 1m distance.

Background listening while running around, doing stuff doesn't count. :D

I voted both 'headphones' and 'near to front speakers' but headphones is probably under 10 % of my speaker listening at the moment.

Due to apartment living, I rarely  listen to music at a volume of about 100 dB and too often:confused: at a volume about 55-60 dB
Precisely why I use headphones when I want things to... you know... be unhealthily loud.
Though I typically keep to 90dB (Z)-peak when using headphones as well.

Approx. 14’x30’x10’ (4.2x9x3 m) room

Main system 2.3m distance to a pair of Genelec 8260.
70cm distance to my Genelec 8010 on my office desk. I use headphones not very often, mainly when sitting at the desk.
There is also an AV system (2.0) in the living room with a distance of more than 4m to the speakers
